Arkansas Couple Welcomes 17th Child

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) - It's a girl—again—for the Duggars. Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar welcomed their 17th child, and seventh daughter, into the world Thursday.
Jennifer Danielle was born at 10:01 a.m. at Saint Mary's Hospital in Rogers, Ark., the Duggars said in an interview. Jennifer weighed 8 pounds, 8 ounces and arrived five days after Michelle's due date.

Less than 30 minutes after giving birth, the Duggars already were talking of having more.

"We'd love to have more," Michelle said, adding that the girls are outnumbered seven to 10 in the family. "We love the ruffles and lace."

Jennifer joins the fast-growing Duggar brood, who live in Tontitown in a 7,000-square-foot home. All the children—whose names start with the letter J—are home-schooled.

The oldest is 19 and the youngest, before Jennifer, is almost 2 years old.

"We are just so grateful to God for another gift from him," said Jim Bob Duggar, 42, a former state representative. "We are just so thankful to him that everything went just very well."

I saw them on TV (on the Discovery channel...or something). They were very interesting to watch, this mom really keeps it all together. I was amazed watching them...the kids were all so well behaved and the mom (and dad) seemed pretty calm and joyful.

If it was me....I think I would be a teensy bit STRESSED OUT!! :panic

I saw them too. It was amazing to watch all those kids work with their dad in building their new house.

Too many children for me though. I homeschool, but I only have two...can't imagine homeschooling 17!! That's a class in themselves!

My first thought is...:faint

Then, after I've recouperated for a moment or two, I say
"Thank You Lord that Your grace is sufficient!!!"

My hat goes off to a family as large as this who love the Lord with all their heart, mind and strength!

This is the most amazing family. I too have watched those documentaries on them and they are like a well-oiled machine. And bless their hearts for bringing up these children biblically and for such loving parents. Who is anyone to say how much is too many? They are well-behaved, much-loved, and well-taken care of children and God must trust them because he keep blessing them! If I weren't so Type A, I would have bundles of children. If I had that many, being Type A? I'd burn them out and be fried myself! A very cool family.

They are a quiverfull family and this won't be their last unless God doesn't give them more.

I think it's absolutely wonderful. They're a strong family unit. So many little people to raise in God's love. I used to want a family like the Waltons (too old for that now :lol2).

I was truly amazed by this woman. God is truly at work in their lives, they could have their own reality TV show and it would be a hit.

Wow.... that's amazing! Maybe they'll have to quit when they run out of "j" names! :)

I'll bet the girls in a family like that (especially the older ones) make really good cooks/cleaners/childcare providers because they'd have to be helping mom at home! I can't imagine having to cook for 19 EVERY NIGHT FOR DINNER!!!

A newspaper article here said that the mother has been pregnant for a total of around ten and a half years (there are two sets of twins).

Oh boy, I feel so tired all of a sudden.....
