Does anyone on this board support Samaritans Purse in this endeavor? I so love OCC. It is a chance to spread the Gospel to children all around the world. You put together a shoe box with things you might put in a Christmas's stocking. You drop it off at a collection center and it is shipped to a child who would have no other Christmas at all.
Here is the web sight

There is information about where the drop off sights are, and all about Operation Christmas Child.:pray

Yes, we support Samaritan's Purse. I think it's one of the best to support. We did the Christmas boxes for several years but the church we go to now (when we moved a couple years ago) doesn't handle that. I don't think it's because they don't support that endeavor. They just didn't have it last year. I hope they do this year.

My two girlss do this every Christmas they shop for a girl that is in same age group that they are in. They love to do this, it's also a great learning tool for them to understand that not every child has a family that can afford to give them a gift at Christmas.

:nod I love this. I too have had my daughter do it since she was a toddler!! We collect things for it throughout the year, whenever we spot something on sale, we buy it and keep it for the shoe boxes :yay
The first year I did it, my pastor told the story of some boxes that went to South America. This little girl was given a box and she was overwhelmed with joy.She looked in the box with a look of awe on her face :shocked Then after a while she picked out a pencil, closed the box and handed it back. With a huge smile she said thank you. She thought she was meant to pick something and that was it!! When she realised the whole box was for her, she cried :)
What a blessing it is to my family! :yeah :wave

The Gospel message is put in every box in the language of the child receiving it.

Our church does something like this too, if not this very project. There's so many good ones. I think World Vision has a nice one, too.
