[07] We Do not support 'Words of Knowledge', Dreams and Vision Interpretations, Words of Faith, Bible Codes, personal spiritual encounters, personal messages from God, self perceived signs of future events, unique events perceived as signs from God, personal prophecies, or any other subjective experiences.
We encourage you to study and hear from God's word. II Timothy 2:15
Dear friends on this board,
It seems as though this rule can be difficult to get around. I understand that it is a rule, but do not completely understand why. *Perhaps an admin could help out?
I read the verse from Timothy...which, of course, is true. We should definitely read the Word of God and listen to the Holy Spirit about what God is saying to us there.
However, what about Joel 2 (I think it is...) About people having dreams, visions, prophecies, etc? If we are in the last days, isn't this verse referring to our time? And if so, then why not consider that SOME dreams may be in reference to this scripture?
Just a note: I also understand that we cannot know what dreams would be from God-as readers on this board...but we can definitely know that what God has written in His Book is from Him...So if that is the reason, I understand. But it seems that we can't completely discount people's dreams...
OR, another thought: maybe the dream is just for the person who had it....and is not meant to be shared with the hundreds of people on this board who may be reading...because sometimes it seems like predicting events and if the events don't come true, it hurts our witness, as we come off as false prophets (which we definitely don't want to be doing).
I don't know. I just know that there are lots of "rapture dreams" and "people hearing trumpets" and things like that...what are we to think? And why are the rapture dream threads not locked immediately in lieu of Rule #7? (which I am not advocating-just asking about it)
Sorry for this long post. I wanted to get this out. Perhaps I have already answered my question with speculation. Maybe you all can help me out?
Thanks. God Bless you all.:scratch

I don't doubt many are excited about future events to the point they are hearing and/or seeing things, and we are not trying to damper anyone's excitement.
We don't want that perception on this board because it's an easy way for deception to seep in.
It was this mindset that started the Latter Rain movement placing personal experience over scripture and the Word of Faith movement with the power of positive thoughts and suggestions.
It's also very easy for wolves to play this game on the board 'revealing God's message for us' and turning threads into Tin Foil topics.
It is also a way non believers can make fun of us by claiming they believe in God and share some fictitious story so they can go back to their atheist board and joke about pulling one over on us.
It is also a bad witness to those searching the board and getting the impression we are walking around seeing visions and hearing oracles.
It's not a sound method for a solid Christian forum rooted and grounded in the Word of God.
It's best to put out the spark now than a bon fire later.

Thank you for your response. As I understand it, you aren't totally discounting peoples' claims of dreams/prophecy from God. You are saying that we can't validate the "who" part (the person who had the "dream")...so you can't really give credence to that because you aren't sure who it is...which also makes sense.
I have never heard about this "latter rain" thing...it is obviously BAD. I don't blame you for wanting to avoid it.
Thank you for explaining this.

This book is a "must read" for anyone who has come to their senses within an apostate church and wondered what to do and how to do it. The Bible is clear that we are to mark and avoid false teachers (Rom. 16:17) and separate ourselves from those involved in sin (1 Cor. 6:17) while continuing to pray for them. But the issue of rejecting heresy and false prophesy becomes a matter of personal fortitude and deep emotional hurts when it involves close friends who have been brainwashed by "the river" movement.
Topics in this book:
Word Faith movement
Holy Laughter
"Slain" in the Spirit practice
Emphasis on humanity of Jesus
over Deity
Gifts & Calling for the unbeliever?
Experience versus Scripture
Repetitive chanting & singing
Paradigm shift
Understanding true worship

May I ask something just out of curosity? I have no interest in discussing it in any depth but could you tell me what "holy laughter" is?

There's something I want to say about dreams. I certainly believe that our God Who spoke the universe into existence could cause His present day children to have prophetic dreams and maybe some of us have, indeed, had prophetic dreams. However, I also believe that we may be experiencing more rapture dreams because we are thinking about the rapture so much. Many of us keep talking about our belief that the rapture could happen at any time and the things we see happening in the world right now make us believe that it may be sooner rather than later. So, I think that it makes sense that we would have dreams about this exciting event that could happen at any moment and deliver us safely into the arms of our Saviour. Of course, it also makes sense that our loving and merciful Father might be causing some of these dreams so that, as the world around us darkens further and becomes more evil, we will be excited and enthusiastic about witnessing to an unsaved world. Either way, We're all going home someday soon, either by the death of these earthly bodies or via the rapture. WOOHOO! :yeah

:hug I have to say that I've been so filled with the spirit that I've laughed until my sides ached :nod It was a few months after my husband left me and it had been a very painful time for me. It wasn't in a church,it was in a time of prayer with a very good Christian friend. I was burdened with grief and depression and we were praying together, that the Lord would replace in me the joy I used to have :pray Well thats what He did! :yeah I can only explain it as a move of God. I was sad at the start of the prayer, had been for months. By the end, I was filled with so much joy and laughter :pound I wasn't jumping around or rolling on the floor like the folks in the video, but I sat and laughed until there were tears rolling down my cheeks and my jaws ached :yay My friend laughed too, but I think thats was because I have a contagious laugh
Anyway, when the laughter died down,my depression and sadness had been lifted and I was back to my usual self from then on! God had answered our prayer and restored my joy! :yeah
I think as usual the word of faith people are taking things too far ( and the toronto blessing was taken over by satan imho) but God can and does send Holy laughter to those who need it :nod What a glorious Lord we serve!! :pray :wave
