Hi ladies.....
I took three pregnancy tests today.....I used the cassette type(they are much cheaper)...anyway, I have never used this type before. I have faint pink lines in the test area(suposedly indicating positive test results). All three of them have a faint positive line, that was clearly visible at 5-7 minutes after taking the test. DH says that the line is not really really visible like the reference line.....so it doesn't count. Anyway, question is whether anyone out there has any experience with this sort of test.

You could try again in a week, or if you really want an answer fast, go see your doctor for a test... sometimes the lines aren't bold at first. It might depend on the time of day you do the test (they recommend first thing in the morning) and how close you are to time of conception (these tests tend to say they show positive results between 6 and 15 days after conception).

Have you been typing here with no gloves on??? :aha Check out the thread about "Is it Catching?"

What these home tests do is indicate if there is a hormone in your urine that is referred to as the pregnancy hormone. If the lines are faint, that MAY indicate that this hormone is present in small amounts. When my daughter was pregnant the first time, she knew she was pregnant, but the home test was negative because it was early enough un her pregnancy that the hormone was present in scant amounts a week os so later, the test was definitely positive. That baby is now 10 years old.:)

If you have ANY color there at all, it means it is a positive. They can be faint lines or bold lines, it doesn't matter. All that matters is a line.

yep..
i have seen MANY with NOTHING--as much as i tried to make a faint line appear..it was not...went through years of infertility...
after 4 children now (one pregnancy was twins), i can tell you that ANY line whatsoever is indicative of a positive pregnancy...faint or bold...if you see one, you are very likely pregnant...:thumb

Congrats, you're pregnant.:yeah
My 2nd child, I took one of those test, the 2nd line came back very faint. You are not that far along. If you wait and take a test next week, first thing in the morning the line will be darker.

your body produces a hormone called hcg. As a baby grows it produces more of this hormone. Test indicate you are pregnant by testing this hormone. Each test has has a different marker hcg you need to match. If you have one that needs 20 hcg then your body must produce at least 20 hgh hormone. But if you have any line no matter how dark or light it is with in the test time you are pregnant.
When I took a test with my son i used fact + only it made a cross and I was still pregnant.

A faint line will show up after a long time, even if you're not pregnant, I've waited longer than you're supposed to out of wishful thinking and it showed up but I wasn't. It took a lot longer than 5 to 7 minutes, though. How long were you supposed to wait? If three minutes, then I'd say yes, 3 to 5 minutes is pretty close, but if it was one minute and it showed up 7 minutes later I'd say there's a little room for doubt. Not much, just a little.
