Good clip Dan, thanks. Now for a personal observation...

I believe this is an effort by the Atheist movement to attempt to get the Evangelical movement to feel unnecessarily harsh towards themselves and their witnessing efforts. Considering that not all Christians are in the same place in their walk with the Lord, nor have the opportunities to witness as others, what better place to attack the Christian than to try and make them feel guilty because of a failure to win a soul.

This man, an unbeliever, is placing 'blame' on Christians for failing to bring more people to Christ. But even the creation bears witness to our Lord so they won't have any excuse for not believing:

"For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse:" (Romans 1:20 KJV)

Here's a good analogy for this man's method of guilt placement: He's nothing more than another burglar who sues a homeowner for breaking into a house and getting hurt while doing it. And we've seen this occur more than once.

This poor, condemned man is trying to manufacture guilt from Christians to compensate for his own lack of belief, and he will pay for it with his soul.

I just took it as an atheist who knew more about what it means to be a Christian, and how they should witness, than most Christians do.

The sad thIng is, even loaded with all this info, he STILL doesn't believe.

TWOTM radio show had this on their website awhile back.

Ironicaly, it was a pretty fair description of how a Christian should witness to nonbelievers. I do agree with the earlier post though - I imagine his motivation was to instill guilt among Christians who don't do this because it is "difficult to do" - he didn't use the word hypocrite, but his smile at the end suggests to me this was really the intent. But in fairness, the message was a good one and should make us all think about sharing the gospel.

I kind of agree with the atheist. I remember seeing this awhile ago and it really does make me think... just how MUCH are the unbelievers watching us? Watching us Christians to see how much we take the Bible seriously??

How many of us (especially us in the south, Bible belt) have been personally witnessed to? Not in a church, I mean at a mall, Walmart, etc. I have lived in Alabama my whole life, where there is a church on every block, and I have never been witnessed to by a believer. Or been given a tract. Or really even befriended by a believer, outside of a church setting. Thank God I am a Christian, but I think as a whole (and I'm not necessarily talking about ppl on this board), the American church does a sucky job of stepping out of their comfort zone to reach unbelievers.

It's like he said, do we REALLY believe what the Bible says?

...the American church does a sucky job of stepping out of their comfort zone to reach unbelievers.

I absolutely agree, which brings me to clarify my original statement: I said "This poor, condemned man is trying to manufacture guilt from Christians..."

What I should have said is that he's trying to manufacture guilt TOWARD non-witnessing Christians FROM witnessing Christians. As I said before, not all Christians are in the same place in their walk with the Lord, nor have the opportunities to witness as others. But we do need to be aware that many of those who don't witness may be a part of the apostate church of the last days, and therefore not really saved themselves. Hence, the lack of effort.

Yes, today's American church does a "sucky job", and this would certainly explain why.

Maybe manufacture guilt, but maybe manufacture urgency?

Also.. I don't understand what you mean by some believers not having the "opportunities to witness."

I don't understand what you mean by some believers not having the "opportunities to witness."

I was considering our brethren that are elderly, infirmed, homebound and etcetera. Opportunities to witness can be severely restricted by circumstances beyond their control, therefore I used the term which I did, which in these cases, is appropriate.
