I wrote this recently. Tell me what you think.
Walk of A Soul
Born onto a serpent’s path, I walked for quite some range.
The way winds wide and crowded to this life for death exchange.
As I walked, I didn’t know the lane went down to Hell,
But laughed and rang, in ignorance, life’s sinful silver bell.
Each note that blasted bell put forth caused God above to weep.
His grief grew because He knew that I’d sow what I cared reap.
But I walked on and rang my bell until I lost my breath.
My heart did not yet realize that the wage of sin is death.
The bell-maker demanded due! The path sapped all my strength!
My bones cracked up! My teeth fell out! My hair lost all its length!
For each sin I committed slowly tore my soul asunder.
The more I walked, the more I knew I spent my life in blunder.
My mind stood coldly fixed in place; I knew not where to turn!
Shouts came from the right and left, “You’re all going to burn!”
“You’ll face eternal torture! You’ll be hung, stabbed, and sliced!”
“But I know one who’ll save your soul! His name is Jesus Christ!”
A gentle hand took hold of mine and drew me from Hell’s walk.
Ashamed by all the purity, He soothed my soul to talk.
“You’ve sinned against my Father, but your soul is not quite through.”
“Admit your sin, believe in Me, and trust that I’ve forgiven you.”
I did sincerely as He said, and poured out all my heart.
My life belongs to Jesus; from the damned I walk apart.
Amazing joy came over me; my soul began to sing.
I know I’ll live in Heaven now, forever, with my King.
