Wooh, my first post! :yeah

I was wondering if anybody else has had the experience of going from home-schooling to a public or private college. I went to regular Christian schools mostly the whole time I was in school but the last year and a half have been home-schooled since my parents felt there was too much laxity and ungodliness in most of the so-called Christian schools. It was a really good experience even though it was hard to adjust to at first. Now, I'm getting ready to go to college. It's a small all-women's school. I'm pretty happy about the size but nervous about the adjustment. Any advice??

Hi Dovegirl, I can't talk long, we are having friends over this evening. But at our church we have several homeschooled seniors going off to college this year. One to University of Indianapolis on scholarship the other going to Ohio State on a $125,000 scholarship. They are pretty cool people. One of our good friends just finished his engineering degree at IUPUI and he was homeschooled completely.
I can post more later but just wanted to say HI

Congratulations and I am certain that you will adjust just like everyone else does! I guess everyone has to get familiar no matter what or where they come from...Work hard, be yourself, stay out of trouble and you will be fine!:hug:hug:hug

My only advice is: "Seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness and then all these things will be added to you." :D

PLEASE don't let anything come between, distance you, or take you away from your first Love. There's NOTHING in this world that's worth that; not romance, not money, not sex, not ANYTHING (take it from someone who tried to fill life with ALL those things at one time or another). Even if it's a Christian college, you're probably going to run across false teachings from professors and wrong attitudes and behaviors by your fellow students. It's up to YOU to hold tight to the prize, to run the race as if to win.

Please take this from a mother's heart... I have a daughter who's going to be 21 soon and she's "trying out the world"... trust me... I've "tried out the world" (I came to faith very late in life, 33) it's not WORTH trying out. You are no longer a citizen of this world, but your citizenship is in heaven where you are a co-heir with Christ! :hug

In His love,

I don't have any personal experience, but a good friend of mine was home schooled, and while we're at a smaller college.. it's still an adjustment. Getting to know your roommate, and doing a pre-orientation [if they have it] can help you get adjusted to the college atmosphere.. because no matter if you're home schooled or went to public/private schools.. it's still a pretty big adjustment to head off to college.

Hope you have a wonderful time in college!
