THE first thing you notice about Karen Allen’s house is that it is spotless. Even in her teenage boys’ bedrooms, not a thing is out of place. And her boys, Thomas and Taylor, are polite and engaging. Your correspondent found himself being grilled about his travels by a boy who had clearly Googled him. In this household, every chance to learn something new is eagerly seized, explains Mrs Allen. My house isn't spotless. I'm glad no reporters came to my house! :shocked

Great article. The only thing is that the family they picked is not the norm. Most homeschoolers I know, including myself, don't have spotless homes with their kids wearing cardigan sweaters, sitting quietly at a desk so I think that leaves a false impression.

Most homeschoolers are just normal people with messy homes because they're too busy teaching and doing stuff in the homeschool, instead of cleaning all the time. I wonder if the mom cleaned for the interview and dressed her kids up.

That is what I thought too. Ok, if I knew a reporter was coming over I would sure have a spotless home and my kids would look their best!
