Is that for real? It's just a joke right?

Other. :) - I like a variety

Some contemporary praise choruses with Hebrew/Messianic, Southern Gospel, Hymns, and a couple modern worship songs thrown in. Show-time should be very limited, the songs should not be so complex so as the congregation can't easily follow. And, the focus should be on the Lord and His word and the Cross.

Most of the modern worship music and especially rock-worship that comes out now is too complex, while only the lyrics are still provided and they are learnt by ear usually, and worship music been slowly going to radio/show-time. The modern Christian rock with the heavier sound is even worse.

I prefer an acoustic sound, a little electric with it is fine too as long as it isn't loud enough to cause damage to somebody (some people can get damage at anything more than 85 db) or too loud to sing to. You should hear all the instruments, especially the vocals. :nod I'd definitely have acoustic-sounding percussion instruments that aren't too loud and overpowering. Definitely the cajon. I love the popping/bursting sound on many Christian and worship songs, especially the older ones. :nod

Another thing -- worship time should be worship time, singing in address to the Lord, and His praises, and thanking Him for what He has done. It kind of bothers me how when the Spirit is moving in you after an extended period of time to all of a sudden switch to having a song about the church body in general, or of Christian service, or of one that is more evangelical focused. Fine and good to do them, but one ought to be careful about where and when to do them.

Repeating a praise chorus - less than 4 times. Really, 2 to 3. The songs should be redone enough times so that people can learn them if new, but not overkill. Happens with a lot of good worship songs, and then they're never done again.

For those of you who are saying "a mixture" or "a variety", allow me to inform you that this poll DOES allow you to vote for a mixture or variety of the styles listed. You can check off as many (even ALL) of the styles listed as you want. So, if you like hymns, Christian Contemporary, and Christian Country, you can click all 3 of those. The goal is to see what ultimately people can agree on and what styles appeal only to a limited few.

So please proceed with your mixed/variety voting. Select as many as you like and it will register.

Thanks!
- Johnny

SumSam, our Middle School group theoretcially heard a Christian punk or heavy metal or something band before an Aeros game (minor league baseball) a month or so ago; I say theoretcally becuase it was so loud I couldn't understand the words. So, it does exist, I guess.

As for me, anything where I'm not singing solo. A few times, to get a couple kids to stay in their seats on our church van, I have threatened to sing. And it made them stay. I love singing in a congreatation, but my voice was the prototype for God calling it a "joyful noise."

I would have mostly hymns (another great book is "How First A Foundation in Scripture and Song," great devotionals based on a variety of old humns.) However, I'd also have a few of the contemporary ones - without the drum beats and such, though. I also enjoy some Christian Country - yes, we get a few in Ohio at times, such as if a few of our members get together and sing one of those songs in a service. But, mostly the old humns.

A mix of contemporary hymns and take out the drums and electric guitars as performing instruments please :D - perhaps performed with a wooden guitar, piano, and/or a violin, and some traditional hymns. Most of the Chinese churches in the West are in this way - usually at the beginning of Sunday services there will be a contemporary song sometimes sung with chorus and only piano as instrument, and end with singing the Doxology.

And the people like the mixture (most Chinese church attenders become Christians when they were at high school or university, so don't tell me this style doesn't appeal to the youths LOL)
