Starting on the 6th of this month (August), my city (Bridgeport, CT) will be practicing Mass Casualty Decontamination Procedures for a week. The VP of the bank of work for announced it through an email that she sent to all the employees. She also said that "Please do not be alarmed-this is only a drill".
At 5:00 a.m. this morning (Aug. 8th), a weapon of mass destruction (WMD) was simulated on the ferry coming into the Bridgeport Port. It was performed by the Bridgeport Fire Department and the Connecticut National Guard.
The VP of People's United Bank made sure to announce that to all employees so that everyone was aware of what was going on and so that no one would think it was a real scenario.
My first thought to this was that we must be getting closer to an imminent attack on the USA. Has anything like this happened to anyone in their hometown?? :scratch
Yes, ever since 911 there have been drills in various cities at various times. I'm from the Seattle area and they started doing simulated drills of Ferry disasters. Either from terrorisim or other types of disasters.
I've watched on occasion on Fox News where other cities have, off and on since 911, have had "mass casualty drills". Usually they concentrate on either 'drilling' for the response of bio-chemical or nuclear contamination caused by either terrorisim or accident. They do this to give practice to "First Responders". This way they can see just how prepared they are, and to be able to improve areas where they find weakness in the response teams.
It's always interesting to see the results of these excercises.
