I highly suggest that those of you who seem to prefer a touchy feely approach or non-approach to the encroaching apostacy on this board and in the church take a few moments to listen to Pastor John MacArthur on what the scriptures have to say about apostates or those who are running after seducing spirits and doctrines of demons and how those who are aware of the error are to deal with it/thm.

The first part of the interview is an interview with a serviceman from Iraq.

05-26-07 Dr. John MacArthur on "The Truth War"

Scroll over to about 16:20 seconds into audio. Listen to the remainder of the audio and hopefully, Lord willing, those of you who seem to prefer to be PC in apologetics will finally "get it".

God's Word must be the standard by which we measure any teacher.

Any teaching that strays from the Bible must be called to account. Instructions to chant phrases and call it prayer - should send off a flashing red light in the heart of a Berean...God is against the practice, therefore it is not to be done by the Christian.

God's Word is our most precious possession, and the 'tweaking' of it fills me with a righteous (God placed) anger! The Church can not allow any teacher to weave into the fabric of Biblical Christianity those things which are prohibited by God.

Being a Berean is the best means of avoiding remaining under the tutelage of an individual who is misguided in their efforts to make the church more 'relevant' to the world by mixing in a little of this with a little of that.

To understand context the student of the Bible must employ -
Biblical her·me·neu·tics [hùrmə ntiks]
n (takes a singular verb)
1. science of interpreting texts: the science and methodology of interpreting texts, especially the books of the Bible
2. theology of religious concepts: the branch of theology that is concerned with explaining or interpreting religious concepts, theories, and principles

The book another poster mentioned by John MacArthur, entitled the Truth War is superb, and I have read it a few times. It is refreshing that MacArthur is calling it as he sees it, following the tradition of Paul the apostle.

Shalom in Christ
