You guys are making my head spin. :lol2

Jesus comes during the rapture in the air and then He comes bodily and puts His feet on the mount of Olives at the end of the tribulation seven years later.

The rapture is perhaps portals or doors opened in the dimension of heaven to allow the believers in, then we all come back with Jesus at the end of the tribulation from the dimension of heaven to the Earth we left behind at the catching away.

Pretty close...

He comes "bodily" in both because both are parousia's.

No harm in thinking outside the box as long as we don't break scripture. I often use simple daily events to help explain complex computer network ideas to non technically minded people. Like saying you got a busy signal when you tried to send a piece of email to some one.

We live in more than just the 4 dimensions we can perceive with our senses. Hebrews tells us that the things that are seen are made of things not seen. In principle I would agree that yes the Theophanies of the OT can be seen as God logging into this hologram we call reality using different avatars. The tile for them can be and have been different. Captain of the LORDS Host being one, see Joshua. I don't think we should run to far down this path as it can relegate this thread to the shed. When we re called to the clouds I would think of it less in light of a teleport as I would say it will be a change in the state of our avatar, the perceived container of who we are. I may see your physical appearance as one thing but it is only a physical representation of who you are. The data that is stored in you is more you than the physical body that houses it, like the software that runs on a computer, remove the software and it is not longer a MAC or a PC is only the components, the remains. Our software, soul and spirit are due for a hardware upgrade. :tinfoil

Sorry mods. Back to the previously scheduled discussion of Matt 24. :D

Thanks for the reply. I enjoyed reading it :)

Well, how else would he come at the rapture? Yes, he's bodily coming for both, difference is for one he doesn't touch down on earth and for the other, he does.

Plain and simple.:thumb

There you go, 3 bodily comings...which would require 2 more to go.

So then everyone would agree, that is a first, second, and third bodily coming.

I am not sure how to apply what you stated in the above. A parousia (coming/bodily presence/being near) is an event, not a process. One does not become, or proceed to be more arrived or more present, therefore it is not a process. It either is or is not a parousia. He is either here or not here. The events listed above are all events that can happen when He is present, but it would be all during the same event of His coming/presence/parousia.

Janae, thank you for your feedback. I understand what you are saying and it is possible (more than likely) that my use of the word "process" does not accurately depict what I am trying to explain. For example, when Christ died and went to Abraham's Bosom we do not consider His return in resurrection to be the second coming. Does that make sense? Does it clarify what I am trying to say by describing the first coming as an occurence detailed by other events? What I am basically trying to point out is that I see the Rapture as the first event of the second coming. Regardless of the clarity of my explanation, Christ is coming to rapture the Church before the tribulation and will physically return to earth after the Great Tribulation.

God Bless and Maranatha!

Time for linguistic gymnastics, :D

When Christ comes for the bride and effects the harpzo, the great catching away, He does not come to earth so this is not a "second coming". The first coming He was on earth for about 33 years and lived with men. The second coming He will put His foot on the Mount of Olives, He is coming to live with men. :thumb At the great catching away He does not stay nor does He set foot on earth so He does not come to earth a second time.

How's that for semantics? :heh

This is the understanding/wording I am familiar with (as are most I'm sure) ......the first second coming and the second second coming only will confuse people........you will only have to explain what you are talking about so why bother with new language :scratch
