i am just curious where ppl stand on this. my self and my family/friends have had so much trouble with health care in general, and a complete lack of concern/knowledge by our doctors, that we are eventually led to do tonnes of research on our own time

opinions?

Praise the Lord, I haven't been to a doctor (save for a couple checks w/my ear specialist for a congenital condition) since my wisdom teeth came out maybe 18 years ago, and haven't had a regular one since my last pediatrician's appointment what, 20 years ago? Or more? So, I'd say #4 is the answer that best suits me.

God has really been great to me!

Due to all I have researched and found out about big drug companies, their associations with doctors, the fast tracking of drugs etc, I no longer trust the medical field.

The only thing I trust is God and His word.

I've had the best doctors, I have no complaints in that area, they do the best they can but I research and ask questions and research some more.

I've been under medical care since I was a teenager and I am 55 now.

I trust they know their field, but I dont trust them blindly.
I do my research and ask a lot of questions and consider alternative
treatments. I also reserve my right to disagree.

If it is a life changing diagnosis one should also go for a second
opinion and be treated b a specialist, not a general practitioner.

No, I'm a naturopath. MDs are not taught enough about alternative therapies and the role of nutrition. I had been considering going to medical school, but after looking over the curriculum and hearing what various MDs said about certian conditions, I realized that they are too limited. My family and friends always come to me now when they have health issues and I research everything I can about their issue and find ways to help. I've seen some amazing resutls with naturopathic remedies whereas MDs would have simply tried to cut out the problem and not corrected the underlying issue. So, no, I do not trust MDs. Although Naturopaths are a different story.
