Sometimes we have to pick and choose our battles.
This is not one worth fighting really.

If you go out on the street and mention his name. No one knows who he is unless they are into christian tv, books and tapes.Unfortunately, Americans are very aware of Christianity and Christian television and they believe the two are the same. Televangelists are doing a tremendous job in discrediting and mocking the true Christian faith.

I totally agree Buzzardhut,
You know, as a new christian back in the day, I watched a lot of Christian TV and listened to Christian Radio.
However, I feel the Holy Spirit simply led me away from it after a few years. I began to recognize early on how most were more interested in the money than the message as well as the message being all wrong most of the time.

When God began opening my eyes, I thought that the TV preachers were a good place to find solid biblical understanding. I could not have been more wrong. I watched these TV evangelist and started to doubt again. I prayed for discernment and God brought me back to the bible and relying on the Holy Spirit to teach me.

AWDean...welcome to RR :)

Charles Stanley is still a sound teacher. But I agree, most, if not all, are totally out there.

I know there are a few Perry Stone fans here, But I would
rather point out the obvious, then see a new believer be tricked by the W.O.F ers.

Perry is a W.O.F er. His latetst is his work on inspiration today. CREDIT CARD charging a love gifts on a certain HOLY feast days will give you a 3 fold return.

Come on, stop supporting these goofballs. They have done enough damage.

Can you provide a supporting link? I enjoy some of Perry's teachings but do hold him at arms length. I would like to see for myself the proof of this. I have read and listened to him quite a bit and have seen nothing to lead me to believe he was a WOFFER so proof would be appreciated.

Thanks

It seems that in Stanley's book "How to Listen to God", he believes in "special revelation". (God speaking outside His Word including a vision..) :idunno:tsk

"The most important human activity in the life of any believer is spending time with God in meditation," referring to his 3 part series, Meditation: The Power of Silence.—Dr. Charles Stanley, 4/11/06 radio broadcast, Be Still DVD supporter

NOTE: Richard Foster is main speaker on the above DVD along with Dallas Willard. :tsk

Thanks Sing for that info.

I've found that as long as Perry sticks to prophecy and teaching of prophecy, types, jewish traditions/pictures, etc., he does well. When he gets 'pentecostal' he blows it. I have not listened to him in a long time, but I don't how people feel about the WOF angle...anyone who has listened or watched Perry speak and teach about the Rapture would post it here in a second. He is pre-trib thru and thru and has great insights for those who want to learn. I would call him on the WOF though...when he goes down that path...and it really isn't that often honestly because he spends more time teaching prophecy then hanging out with the WOF crowd.

Just some info.

Sing for him, I think you have gone off the edge.

Not everyone has an evil desire make every Christian bOW down to mecca- sing a eastern chant- or hum a hindew prayer.

I understand your concern for the new seeker movements, but I think your taking it a bit over the edge.

Do you think C Stanley is wanting to draw us into deeeeeeeeep hindew meditations? Do you meen Praying? being quiet,
turning off the tv and radio? Actually thinking about praying when you pray?

No, meditate meens to THINK about the word. Ponder it, mull over it.

Is THAT wrong? Go check the bible and see what you find for meditate.

HEY, I got to defend Stanley, he is actually one who is reaching people with the truth.

As far as "Special revelation" Does God leed us in life if we ask? Will he kind of show us what he wants in our lives? Direct us?

I hope so.

Not everyone has top secret Satanic intentions -sing for him-. Geessh.

Now since you have blasted him I would like to defend Charles Stanley and -In touch-

here are some important reasons why his ministry IS important:

#1 Our society is becoming intreverted.: because of the way the world is, people trust people less and less everyday.
Because of this, people are staying home allot more- going to Church less and less- communicating face to face less.

How is the gospel spread? Face to face, talking, knowing and getting to know each other.

That meens someone has to reach the stay at homes.WITH TRUTH!! But waht is being beamed to the masses is mostly TBN and the W.O F. Ers

Stanley is by far NOT a W.O.F. er

He is walking with God, and Loves our Lord and savior Jesus Christ. preaches only the truth, and we should be thankfull someone is reaching the masses with truth.

There you go.

Again "sing 4 him" not everyone has an evil secret agenda. Maybe you have been looking at them too long?
