You can be a Christian and still enjoy secular music. I love Van Halen, The Eagles, Metallica, and even some Manson. Whoever said you can only listen to Hymms if you are a Christian, clearly does not know what they are talking about.

Manson??? :tsk

Rock star, Marilyn Manson, proudly boasts:

"Hopefully, I’ll be remembered as the person who brought an end to Christianity." (Spin, August 1996, p. 34)

Well I do like some of his songs... doesn't mean I'm a Satanist. Just because one of my friends smokes weed, does not mean I'm a dope-head, too.

:twitch I don't know how you justify that in your mind. He is anti-Christ. I would think just on principle alone, that would make you not want to have anything to do with his music.

1 Thessalonians 5:22 Abstain from all appearance of evil.

I guess then we'll have to agree to disagree, and leave it at that.

I have been a Christian for many years, and I still enjoy a lot of secular music. I mostly listen to classic rock and classic country, if I find a song to be offensive, I won't listen to it.

I like some modern music, but I'm mostly into anything before the 1960s, as I believe they are a lot more mild than what we've got today in the mainstream USA. The modern music that I do listen to is often from movie soundtracks, or some types of jazz, blues and some very early (50s) rock music.

I'm a DJ, both radio and mobile. I have over 2,000 albums, 2,000 45's, 10,000 CD's. 40,000+ mp3's. I love all kinds of music. This is something I spent a lot of time with Jesus about when I got saved. There are certain songs I will not listen to anymore. God told me, He made music, the devil perverted it. I am content that I am not sinning when I listen to secular music. However, if secular music causes you to sin then stop listening to it.

I think I'm in a powerful position when I DJ. I can minister to people in a bar just by not drinking, or not playing a dirty song or by not flirting with every girl who comes along (I used to do all those things). I feel like I am a beacon of light in a dark place. I recall Jesus saying "The well don't need a doctor". That's why he was surrounded by "sinners".

On th radio, I can be good by not talking about sex or acting like a shock jock.

I like old big band, and 50s/60s jukebox music.

And some 80's stuff for no reason other than memory lane of my teenage years.

For the Manson fan... Is Antichrist Superstar an album you want to have full volume when Christ returns?

I'm not being snippy...I used to love the band but obviously my heart/mind got a little talking to about that.

I grew up in the late fifties to the late sixties with rock and roll. I still like it, but only listen to it when someone else is playing it. I don't like any vulgar in the lyrics though.
