We started back up last week. We took all of July off and a bit of August because mom was in town. The kids are excited about the new curriculum. My oldest still hates math, but I think he is warming up to the new books.

My kids go to a co-op for history, science, art and Spanish. But I am thinking of not putting them back next year because they are going from a classical teaching to a lecture/notetaking..:doh can you say let's go backwards..ugh So anyway, hubby and I have been talking and we think we are going to just keep them home full time... So if I start asking loads of questions humor me..ok??LOL

We started the 1st of Aug. It's going good except for taking care of the 1 and 2 year old while doing school with the 6 and 8 year olds. We do the bulk of it during the baby's naptime and let the 2 year old watch "Dora." That works pretty well. I have a hard time getting enough hours in for the 6 year old. She just flies through everything I give her. (I don't actually have to track her hours until she's 7, but that's only a few weeks away and she is doing 2nd grade work, so I figured I better start tracking.) We use Alpha Omega Lifepacs up through 2nd grade and then switch to computer based SOS for third grade on.

I love HSing them, but the amount of time it takes as they get older is unbelievable! I told my husband last night there is a difference between a HS mom and a stay at home mom as far as the amount of time they have available.

For this year, my girls are most looking forward to a Homeschool Academy they will be going to once a week. It's at a church in a nearby town and they will learn computers, art, science, music, PE, and Spanish. Plus they will learn about things like raising your hand to ask/answer a question, keeping quiet in class, standing in line, etc.

How much time does it take you?

How much time does it take you?

Bad time to ask that question. :lol2 I just finished helping her research and write a paragraph on the Apollo 11 space flight...it took three hours. But seriously, I probably spend a min. of 4 or 5 hours on school for each of them plus grading and lesson plans. And that's with the older one being on the computer for most of that! Of course, constant interruptions from the babies slow us down a little bit.
