My in-laws say the cross is actually offensive to them and any 'good mormon'. what do they say is the reason they find it offensive?

what do they say is the reason they find it offensive?

Some say they find it offensive because it depicts Jesus death and is a symbol of brutality. Mormonism's atonement is in the garden when Jesus sweat drops of blood, not on the cross. I guess when you look at it from Mormon's belief, if the atonement took place then the cross is unneccessary. Ask a Mormon why Jesus had to die if that is true.

My wife's grandmother gets very mad if she sees my wife with any type of cross(or caffeine for that matter-seriously)
