Global warming? Look at the numbers
A little less than a decade ago, the U.S. government changed the way it recorded temperatures. No one thought to correlate the new temperatures with the old ones, though -- no one until Canadian researcher Steve McIntyre, that is.
In many cases, the changes are statistically minor, but their potential impact on the rhetoric surrounding global warming is huge.
The hottest year since 1880 becomes 1934 instead of 1998, which is now just second; 1921 is third.
Four of the 10 hottest years were in the 1930s, only three in the past decade. Claiming that man-made carbon dioxide has caused the natural disasters of recent years makes as much sense as claiming fossil-fuel burning caused the Great Depression.
The 15 hottest years since 1880 are spread over seven decades. Eight occurred before atmospheric carbon dioxide began its recent rise; seven occurred afterwards.
In other words, there is no discernible trend, no obvious warming of late.
Ever since the correction became a hot topic on blogs, the pro-warmers have tried to downplay its significance, insisting, for example, that the alterations merely amount to "very minor rearrangements in the various rankings."

Well, I can say with certainty that this is the worst summer I have ever experienced. We have had temps in the 100s for weeks now and there doesn't seem to be a let-up.
Usually, we may have temps of 100+ a few days and then it goes back down. Not this summer. It is unbelievably hot every day, and no rain to speak of either. My trees are losing their limbs every day now due to long-term drought.

It has been a 105 here every day that it doesn’t rain here for quite a while. Just like the previous poster, it may have gotten above 100 for a day here or there in the past, but it always went back down. Not this year. I am not sure what it will take for people to understand that global warming is happening. And the far right has access to the same satellites that monitor radiation outputs from the sun, and all we get are crickets on that front! I am a conservative, but I know there is a problem with our weather patterns. I have no clue why people insist that everything is like it should. And as far as blaming it on pollution, man I wish people would look at most any video of china and their skyline. They have NONE!!!! Most of them are worse than LA use to be. How bad do things have to get before people realize there are changes in our weather patterns? We have flooding in many areas of the country; we had a tornado in New York!! Dry spells in many parts of the world. Whole glaciers are melting. I mean what does it take for people to scratch their heads? I know I have been labeled as an environmentalist by this board, but I assure you guys I am not. In fact, I am probably more conservative that anyone else here on this board. But I look for the truth in all things, and even Ray Charles can see what is going on here.

How soon people forget how cold it was this spring. The winter lasted into April.

We had a cold front come thru this past April that lasted 3 days. It hit here about April 12th and lasted to April 14th to the 15th. It goofed up a few people who planted their gardens early, but other than that it was very warm this past spring. I am not sure what to tell you other than I did not forget!

but does Ray Charles know that the sun is burning hotter and the earth is just going through change? :heh
I think a great point I have heard is that yes - it is hot outside... but if the earth can recover from "an asteroid that killed life on earth millions of years ago" and a volcano that darkened skies for months or years... then the earth can recover from my SUV and farting cows.
Now, I am not saying trash the earth - God gave this to us... we should respect and protect it. BUT I think this is all part of HIS plan and wether or not we drive an SUV or prius - it is going to go the way he wants it...

There was a blizzard that lasted at least a week. I remember the Prince of Wales had to cancel his global warming speech because of cold weather.
I'm not going to get into a global warming debate. It's as futile as debating creation v. evolution. I'm just tired of people claiming that man is the cause.

Man I busted out on that one!!!!:spew Great one!!
But as for the sun causing it...I will repost this statement:
And the far right has access to the same satellites that monitor radiation outputs from the sun, and all we get are crickets on that front!
We have satellites that monitor the sun's radiation output, and they remain pretty much constant. If it were out of line you know the far right would have blasted the media pointing out the sun's increased radiation output, and they can not.

i read someplace recently that mars is also getting hotter
did we cause that?
...maybe the environmentalists need to hound NASA about those 2 cycle mars rovers (ha!)
