I'm wondering if this is becoming a trend basically everywhere else or or if its just around here...

But what is UP with all these teens wearing playboy merchandise?
i work retail and its an every-day thing to see some child as young as 15 wearing a t-shirt, hat, sunglasses or purse, keychain, giant silver/gold pendant, earrings etc with that stupid rabbit head icon on it. since when is sleaze a fashion statement?
i mean, i know this stuff has been building for centuries, and i only started to notice it about 6 years ago when i tried to buy decent clothes for my then 3 yo daughter. all i could find were low cut jeans, hoochie momma skirts, shirts that had wide open collars and didn't cover the belly more than halfway...

but its getting ridiculous.... i'm sure these girls must think it looks trendy and shows how open-minded they are :snake or how free their thoughts are. :ohno

it makes me sad at the same time it makes me angry.

i'm so irritated by it that this post is not coming out as i wanted it to, i at least intended to be coherent , but its not turning out that way.
but these are my thoughts:

what does seeing a child in these clothes make someone like a child predator think?
easy prey?
especially the ones who prey on the 'just under 18' crowd
how about males of their own age? (including the ones who are decked out in the junk themselves)
what must these girls think of themselves?
how in hades do these girls' parents even ALLOW them to step foot inside the home with those clothes in a shopping bag, and then even let them wear it in public.

i don't care if these items are supposedly marketed to adults, because i frankly don't believe that.

another thing that irritates me is seeing even younger looking girls hanging on the arms of a teenage boy who is wearing a tshirt or hat of the same advertisement. Apparently nobody ever told them that seeing a guy wearing a playboy hat is a sign to turn around and walk the other way, fast.

....another stupid thought (and i don't know where this fits either) is why, if the girls want to be rebellious, arent they wearing playgirl mdse?

either way i don't get it

i can't possibly be the only one

I think girls like it because it's pink -- first off, and it has sex appeal. Like it's a badge or something saying "Yep, I'm sexy". Girls have such a need to be sexy..and it's starting younger and younger. I'm sure a lot of them just think it's cute too plus..it gets looks.

I think it's sick that this stuff is trickling down and finding it's way to innocent little girls. But little girls are in a big BIG hurry to be big girls.

It has to be hard raising little girls....in this sinful world. Just like it has to be difficult raising teenage boys. I shouldn't say difficult, but a challenge. You have to teach and show them to take a stand for Christ. As the world gets darker there is going to be more and more things we have to stand against.

I have three girls. It is so hard to find decent clothes for them. All the shorts are too short, the tops are too short, the dresses are too skimpy. Mine are only 9, 6 and almost 2.

THIS is one of the reasons I took sewing back up. Not my daughter. No flippin way my daughter will be dressed as eye candy for sleeze.

And those Bratz "dolls" :vomit they look like hookers with eating disorders and their website is ridiculous with sexual innuendo.

I truly, honestly do not know what is wrong with parents that they would allow this trash on their precious children. MY child is not a sex commodity or focus group for your pediaphelia clothing lines :rant

Mom's, be sure to talk to your sons about this too. We keep sexual purity and the lies spread in our sex obsessed culture as an open topic in our home. One of the things we have been going over with our boys is the value and strength of character it takes for a girl to NOT dress like a street walker these days. I thank the Lord that they are listening when I hear them talking and praying for a girl who doesn't value herself enough to cover up. They know what it would say to a like minded girl if they were to dress just as sex orientated, that they have to walk that line as well. (That and their momma would tear their hide UP if that trash was ever brought in this house :lol2)

no kidding

i got my mom to stop buying those things for my daughter by asking her:

if i told you in 5 years some toy company is going to start making baby dolls dressed in lingerie & bondage gear and wearing devil horns, mass marketing it to young girls and it would be come quite popular... would you believe me?

she said no, and i told her thats what the Bratz dolls are, and she took a closer look and said
OH!

it just never occurred to her like that.

Barbie dolls softened the blow of sleazy dolls coming in...but now its just beyond crazy. and even the new barbie dolls look a lot less like old style mannequins, they look like enhanced teen girls instead of stylized female figures

sometimes i get so floored by it, i don't know if its me or i am overreacting.. :panic

I do admit it's getting harder to buy my girls modest clothes.

They have a friend that some of her clothes she wears, oh my!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I wouldn't let my daughters out of the house much less buy. She's is 11 and when she is here, I remind her not to bend over, cover up and ask, "Aren't those too small for you?"

I can tell you dh is more stricter than I.

I'm no fan of Barbie either LOL

We have good old fashioned dolls and toys in this house. If it's something that makes me question what it's portraying, then it's simply a no brainer to not have it. There are mountains of toys that do not pander to the sex driven culture in mainstream media. But be careful listening to me, we also do not watch tv anymore :lol2

I know what you all mean. Its really hard to find modest clothes for little girls. My daughter is the youngest of four kids and the only girl. She is very much a girly girl. She is only 5 and is allready oppsessed with clothes and shoes. So its hard when we go shopping and everything she picks up, I have to say no to because it looks trashy. I didn't think I would be going through this until she was much older!

i cannot agree with all of you people any more than i do! icebear, you may think your first post was disorganized, but who cares? You hit the nail on the head! UGH. I am so sick of seeing barely pubescent boobies sticking out of too small, too low, too tight tops and little belly buttons (some with belly button rings already) poking out where a pr of properly fitting jeans and t-shirt should be!!!

and we wonder why there are so many sick perverts out there trying to entice our little girls? Because these little girls are running around looking like old sl*ts!

*sigh*

and sad to say, there are some girls (from about 13 and up) at our church who dress no better than their worldly counterparts. What is up with their PARENTS letting them out of the house...no, out of their ROOMS, even, dressed like that?
ugh!

i am so thankful that so far, my 11 yr old is very conservative and knows full well what is appropriate to wear and what is not. And she is perfectly happy to NOT wear that trampy stuff. Hope her 5yo sister is as easy as she is when seh gets to that age!

oh and btw, this 'trend' is not new but its getting racier and flashier as the days go by....
