View Full Version : Has the US Constitution been ripped from our hands?

With the current administration in the US (both Rep and Dem alike), has the constitution been overlooked or even trodden down under the guise of words such as “fiscal responsibility” or “smart economics” etc ?
Did the founding fathers impose a mandatory income tax? Or create the I.R.S.? Do you feel that the role of government has changed dramatically from it’s original intent?
I certainly do. But what of the constant disregard for the Constitution that has been practiced by government officials in this day? All of which I believe is leading to something… and under the guise of words such as I mentioned.
Do you feel that it is too late to do anything at this point? Such as vote responsibly for elected officials that will not only hold to the integrity of our Constitution but actually set it in motion once again and not disregard it on the basis of convenience as they feel fit (search google for a long list of such violations)? Do we wait until it is not only ripped from our hands by deed as seems to have already happened, but that we wait until even it be ripped from our hands in word before a mention of the progression is even come to an awareness of?
Are we not called to be good stewards until His coming? whenever that may be.
My hands feel bare, only my ears are full but of just fleeting words :(

I know how you feel. I love my Country and am watching it self destruct before my eyes...but then I think of Jesus living during Roman rule..and what peace He had because He was doing the Father's will and completely trusted that God was in control and had a perfect plan...sometimes I ask God why did He create me for this particular time...sometimes I wish that He has placed me in Little House on the Prairie days where life seemed so much simpler...but then I think how neat that God chose of for this particular time in which we may see His triumphant appearing...whatever happens I know that Jesus is "with me always, even unto the end of the age!"

We haven't been under Constitutional Law for quite some time, since FDR, I believe. We're under Maritime Law. Basically, the constitution is just a figurehead for what our country is supposed to be. We haven't been sovereign for years and years. We're under the ownership and control of so many countries it would take a lifetime to get it all back. Sorry to pop any bubbles.

We lost our real freedom when the government was allowed to take money from us by force if necessary.
And if they need some more, they will raise the rates and you will be required to send in the dough.

We lost our original form of government in 1865. The War of Northern Aggression destroyed the concept of a voluntary union of states.

Corporations are running this country now, not we the people..
Here's a good article about this from Pastor Chuck Baldwin
Corporate America: Freedom's Greatest Threat
by Chuck Baldwin
http://www.chuckbaldwinlive.com/c2007/cbarchive_20070727.html
Most of us who believe in the free enterprise system have been taught that business interests normally work to the betterment of America's overall health, both commercially and politically. While there might have been a time when this was true, it is definitely not true today. Not only has Big Business become unfriendly to the principles of freedom, it has also become freedom's greatest threat.
...
Someone rightly observed that one can determine the focus of, and influence upon, societies by analyzing its architecture. For example, from the founding of Jamestown in 1607 through the beginning of the War for Southern Independence, the most notable buildings (in most communities) belonged to churches. From the mid-nineteenth century to the mid-twentieth century, the most prominent buildings belonged to various governments. From the mid-twentieth century to the present, the biggest, most lavish, and most notable buildings belong to Big Business. This is not accidental or coincidental. These buildings are the monuments of men to the ideas that mean the most to them. Accordingly, a vast number of today's Americans have come to worship at the shrine of Big Business.
However, this idolatry comes at great price. Not the least of which is the way we have allowed Big Business interests to virtually control governmental policy, including our war and defense policies.
Well, I won't quote the whole article but he makes some good points and mentions the war in iraq, illegal aliens, business with china ect. all linked to big business running the government to do what they want.

I agree, its been a long process of self destruction.
Without checks and balances, there is no stopping gov't from ganging up on the individual citizen. This is my main concern living in these times.
Come quickly, Lord.

If I'm not mistaken, the Constitution itself, the actual document, is under the control of the UN, as is the Statue of Liberty, and most of our national parks, and other monuments. They now belong to "humanity".
We have been totally sold out.

You are correct however the slaves were freed. It does not matter why the civil war was fought only that the result was that the slaves were freed.
Loss of state power is an extremely unfortunate result of that war.
The constitution has become a novelty. Any man who says "What freedoms have you lost?!" will live to regret those words. By the time the average American begins to lose their everyday freedoms, as apposed to their inalienable rights, it will be to late to protest. Unfortunately Americans more than peoples from just about any nation on earth lack foresight. Patriotism has become a poison pill. I love my people, my land, the constitution, the stories of my forfathers & my brothers that are willing and those that have died for my nation yet if i do not agree or support the philosophy of the individual whom temporarily "presides"(from preside comes president) over the nations business i am unpatriotic and should be ashamed and looked down upon.
What kind of psychological sickness is this?
God help our nation.

Can you please back up your assertion that we aren't under Constitutional Law? Perhaps I don't understand what you are referring too, but my understanding of recent and past Supreme Court Decisions would indicate that we are in fact under Constitutional Law...

Your thinking of The UN's World Heritage Sites, but you are exaggerating it somewhat.. The list of cites designated as World Heritage Sites, along with their date of inclusion is as follows:
Mesa Verde National Park (1978)
Yellowstone National Park (1978)
Everglades National Park (1979)
Grand Canyon National Park (1979)
Independence Hall (1979)
Kluane / Wrangell-St Elias / Glacier Bay / Tatshenshini-Alsek (1979, 1992, 1994) # * 29
Redwood National and State Parks (1980)
Mammoth Cave National Park (1981)
Olympic National Park (1981)
Cahokia Mounds State Historic Site (1982)
La Fortaleza and San Juan National Historic Site in Puerto Rico (1983)
Great Smoky Mountains National Park (1983)
Statue of Liberty (1984)
Yosemite National Park (1984) #
Chaco Culture (1987)
Hawaii Volcanoes National Park (1987) #
Monticello and the University of Virginia in Charlottesville (1987)
Pueblo de Taos (1992)
Carlsbad Caverns National Park (1995)
Waterton Glacier International Peace Park (1995)

Well, I may live to regret those words, but I think if people are going to assert that "the constitution is being taken away," or some such thing, they have the obligation to back up those assertions with some specifics.
Personally, I have disagreed with a number of Supreme Court decisions, but I'm not currently concerned about losing all my Constitution Rights, though I do think that Americans need to be vigilant about monitoring Government Power, and holding politicians to account for abuses.
