One of my dearest friends has gone through some rather serious weight issues for years. As one of her close friends, I watched as she tried diet after diet with little success and lots of frustration. Now however, she's having incredible success with the Atkin's diet. She is not at all one to subscribe to something just cause it's trendy, but she swears by it and I've seen the results with my own eyes. Possibly something you might want to consider. Good luck!

Thankyou so much. I will keep that in mind. I did try it a long time ago. Maybe I will just do it again and this time stick with it. I know being firm and consistent is more than half the battle.
Anyways this is me and my son in all our glory.
I think my major problem areas is my middle and arms. I have always had massively HUGE arms.

About a year ago I found this program. (It was posted here by someone).
http://www.settingcaptivesfree.com/lords_table/
It has changed my life, eating habits and my relationship with the Lord.
Now I combine what I've learned there with counting points (weight watchers - but I do this on my own, no meetings). I lost 25 pounds right away with the Setting captives free, then DH came home from Iraq and I slacked off, but I'm back on track and have 20 pounds to go. Since I completed the bible study through Setting captives free I feast on the word through Dr. McGee www.ttb.org
Check it out it might be something you want to try.

If you do try the Atkins (worked for me too) be SURE to drink a LOT of water. The high protien diet is hard on your kidneys and you will start to develop kidney stones without enough fluid to push the protien out quickly.
A bonus is that drinking a lot of water helps your tummy feel full and hunger pains are greatly reduced. In the US, we frequently mistake our bodies thirst signals for hunger signals. Soda's, coffee and all the other things we drink besides plain water, do not keep us as hydrated as we want to believe and is almost as hard on our kidneys as nothing to drink at all.

I have lost almost 65 pounds just counting calories. But I depended on God using the setting the captives free and using sparkspeople ( a free online diet program). It took me a year to lose the first 50. I have lost 15 in about 6 months. I tried the low carb and only lost 12 pounds and was always hungry.
I find pasta, high fiber bread and rice help me stay fuller longer. We also walk 4 days a week.
The biggest thing I found that helped me was relying on God. Every morning before I get out of bed, I would ask God to help me make wise choices when it came to eating. The first 6 months hubby and I drank a cup of broth before lunch and supper to keep us from eating while cooking. Also plan for 2 healthy snacks every day to keep your metabolism up.
I have come to the conclusion that I will have to use sparks people for the rest of my life are I will gain the weight back. I do take one day off a week to eat things I like. A doctor told me years ago to do that.
If I can be any help let me know.

I lost 120 pounds in 10 months in 1996. It was like Atkins only without all the fat, and some protein drinks throughout the day. Watching carbs was key, but they stressed lots of green vegetables. My sister was doing Covert Bailey, and wanted me to read his book. I stupidly started adding in certain carbs, and totally fell off the wagon, and now 11 years later, I'm queen of the yo yos. :gaah
I recently went on Atkins, and after initially losing 15 pounds, found myself adding in more fat for satiety. I've gained those 15 back. The only way that works for my metabolism is the one I did in 1996. I love fat, (as in Atkins) and it helps me be full, but I don't lose on it. If you go to the low carb message boards, there's a diet by a lady that lost a huge amount of weight. It's something like Kimkins" (?). I'm getting ready to investigate it further. The low carb boards are very, very helpful.
Good luck!

Your Welcome.
We ended up making today a free day. We were gone all day and skipped lunch and ended up eating mexican food for supper and to top it off I ate an ice cream bar. It is back to dieting tomorrow.
