OK i had alway thought that when you are Saved your name is written in the Book of Life.. Yesterday my preacher said something to the point that everyones name is written in the Book of Life when you are born, and that if you do not accept Christ before you pass away then your name is blotted out . Are their diffrent views to this
I don't believe someone's name is written in the Book when they're born, but if someone was to die as a child (age of accountability), I believe God wouldn't send them to Hell, of course. He would judge them righteously. Once you're saved, I believe that is when your name is added to the Book of Life, I once heard someone say something along the lines of "Why would God add your name to the Book if he was going to blot [or remove] it out later on? God doesn't make mistakes"
I don't have Scripture to back this up, but I think it reflects God's character :idunno
If I'm wrong, someone please correct me. :)

I've read on this board a few times that since Israel has been "reborn," we are living in the "Last Generation" ? Have I read posts correctly to come to that conclusion, or is there something wrong with that statement?
If that is correct, what does it mean, exactly? Does it mean the rapture is going to happen in my lifetime? :idunno
It seems like someone also said that a generation, or this generation, will be 70 years long? :scratch I'm not trying to set dates here, but does that mean the rapture will happen sometime soon? :idunno
If someone could clear up whatever I'm trying to say/ask here (:hehee), and provide Scripture to show me where it says these things, it would be greatly appreciated.
I think the key is in the previous chapter...
Matthew 23:33
Ye serpents, ye generation of vipers, how can ye escape the damnation of hell?
Jesus isn't speaking about a generation as a time period like we think of it. He was speaking about the type of people that the pharisees were. Their generation would not cease until all the things that he spoke had spoken of had come to pass.
In other words, evil men will not cease to exist until after these prophecies have been fulfilled.
Another place we find a key I think is here...
Matthew 16:4
A wicked and adulterous generation seeketh after a sign; and there shall no sign be given unto it, but the sign of the prophet Jonas. And he left them, and departed.
The wicked and adulterous describes the generation and the generation is the one seeking after a sign. There are still people that search after signs, that are wicked and adulterous. Therefore, the generation that Jesus was talking about has not yet passed.
Does that make sense?

It really depends on who you ask. Some say a Generation is 40 years. Some say 70. Some say 80. Some say 120.

If we read Matthew 24, are we there now? Also, when Jesus talked about the Fig Tree, and I assume that is Israel; is the fig tree in bloom now? I wonder when Jesus said that "this generation will not pass away until all these things come to pass," who is that generation? Are we supposed to be looking up NOW and are the signs really 'strong' now? Thanks ya'll! Maranatha!

The majority of Matthew 24 is pertaining to the Second Coming of Christ so no, we aren't there yet. "All these things come to pass"....that is the generation that will surive to see the Tribulation, that generation won't pass until all that is to happen in the Tribulation, happens.
