I've also read on interpretation that said that the phrase 'this generation will no pass' is incorrectly translated, and that the translation should be 'this people' referring to the Jews..
Meaning that the jews would not all pass away before all those things happened. And in a way that translation makes total sense, because in the end, MOST of ISreal will be destroyed by the A.C and only a few will be saved.. and as the bible says 'if those days had not been shortened all would have been destroyed'.
either way.. I hope the rapture is soon.. I"m tired of Job hunting :)

What's a little frustrating to me is that in Luke 21:28 Jesus says, "And when these things begin to come to pass, then look up and lift your heads; for your redemption is drawing near."
I've been watching and waiting since 1978 and these things have already been "beginning to come to pass" for 31 years!
One day closer...waiting to hear the trumpet, Lord!

Matthew was a gospel primarily written for the Jews, so I could see where most of Matthew 24 would be directed at Israel. But according to John 15:5, Jesus is the vine and we are the branches, so in my mind we are Jews by adoption sort of. But I agree, what Jesus meant by this generation will not pass away until all these things take place includes the rapture, 7 year tribulation period and the glorious 2nd coming.
I'm anxious too. I need my King!

When I think of Matthew 24 and how it pertains
to the Second Coming and I see the signs I see,
I think, why are we still here. It's like a mighty
heavenly snowball, gaining speed. Come quickly,
Lord Jesus.

:thinking So, do you think that everything that Jesus warned us about, the signs to watch for; do you think that all of them have been fulfilled now? Israel became a nation, we have had many earthquakes just in a few days, WW1, WW2, the War in Iraq, Afganistan, the wars around the world that we aren't involved in... etc. Are we in a REALLY bad world now? Are things passed bad enough for Jesus to rapture us? :thinking Are Christians being deceived? Is the Great Apostasy already happening? :thinking I go to a big church, so I never know anyone who turns from Jesus deliberately. Jesus has protected me and my whole family, so in my world things are dandy, but on the news, IT'S CHAOS. What do ya'll think? I just wish Jesus would come for us now... :faint

Jesus can come for us any time :thumb
There are no prophecies that need to be fulfilled before the rapture can happen
The few prophecies not fulfilled yet would then happen either in the Trib or in the gap between the rapture and the Trib

Things have been bad since Adam and Eve disobeyed God.

My feelings on this is Jesus is waiting for some more pieces of the puzzle to fall into place. He has events planned in a certain order. I believe he is waiting for more people to be saved. He can come at any time, and that will happen when it is a certain time planned. A lot of events will happen after we are raptured, the AC will come on the scene, and the peace treaty will be signed. There will be the Gog/Magog war take place which we won't be here for that. God has it all in control we belong to him so there is nothing to fear. :preach :thumb

You know, I think things are bad, but each time I say how much worse...yep, I see worse. So, I don't think we can gauge by how bad things are. I want so much for Jesus to finally have a "last straw", for him to say, that's it. I thought it would happen when a little girl was stuffed into a washing machine...but it did not. And so I found myself, with my human mind trying to say, "it sure seemed like that would have been the last straw"...thank God I am not God else I would have had it long ago.
But the bottom line, and it has taken much time and RR contending with me to understand this, it is not going to be a "condition" that brings about the Rapture. So, no matter how bad things get, until that one last person completes the fullness, we are stuck here. We pray for peace, protection, strength and Gods will for us-- and that will have to sustain us until he comes. But we know as evil abounds to keep looking up because that is sign of the end of days.
