I lovingly disagree, Yes their was, It doesn't say ( 1948 ) but when you see the fig tree bloom, ( Isreal ) then that Generation shall Not pass until all of these come to pass.
Jesus is Lord, He made the prophecy, He is not a God of confusion, maybe we should take him literaly....instead of trying to find a different meaning, that may not be there.... blessing's..:wave
Matthew 24:32-33 simply states "Even so, when you see these things ((referencing the fig tree meaning summer is near)) you know it is near, right at the door" (v. 33)
That doesn't reference the beginning of the generation - it simply states that it is one of the signs that indicates that the END of the generation is near.
Contrast to:
"Nation will rise against Nation, and Kingdom against Kingdom.
There will be famines and earthquakes in various places (Luke added pestilences)
ALL THESE ARE THE BEGINNING OF BIRTH PAINS" (v. 8)
That indicates the beginning of the generation - those signs.
According to Fruchtenbaum (and others, but his explanation is one of the best IMO) in "Footsteps", Chapter 4:
"Nation against Nation and Kingdom against Kingdom", in the context of Matt 24 indicates World War.
The first time any such world conflict occurred was WWI. Then WWII.
During these two periods the world saw unprecedented pestilence, famine and earthquakes.
To quote:
"The first sign or the first birthpain signifying that the last days of the age have begun was to be a worldwide conflict coupled with famines and earthquakes. This was fulfilled in 1914-1918. This also marks the first of the events leading up to the Tribulation period."

:wave Folks,
See, this is why I just had to leave this particular topic alone....:panic :hehee
But let me ask, although maybe someone should post a poll so we can see where everyone stands a bit better, but in the final analysis, are we the generation that will see the Rapture? Yes or No.

Im not sure if it will be a set number of years or not but I definitely do not think anything could give the dragon too much of a set time clock to go by. Talk to an atheist. If I had undeniable, verifiable proof that God exists they will deny it. If I had undeniable, verifiable proof that Christ is exactly who the Bible says He is they will deny it. We have both of these and atheists deny it. The scales are covering their eyes the same way I believe God can put the scales on the devil. Then there is the issue of pride, even if Satan knew the exact moment, he still believes he is going to succeed.
No matter when it happens, ultimately we know it will happen. Someday someone will say it is going to happen right now and they will be right. How bout now? or now? or now? or ... darn
I was hoping to be "poofed":heh

I don't see that Israel is blooming from Living Water today yet. I say yet because one day they will look up and say "My Lord" and he will say "My people" than they will bloom. I do believe though that they do have some leaves and tender shoots, but I'm not sure that happened in 1948, they even at that time gave the Temple Mt. to the Arabs cause they didn't need it.
But they did Bloom....They were not a people for thousands of years, they were separeted and all over the world, then thousands of years later, out of no where they come together mircously as a nation...Then after they come together, a country which was dead, nothing could be grown or bloom, all of a sudden is BLOOMING....plants are growing, gardens are growing, everything they do prospers, they become one of the major leaders in science and deveopment in the entire world...They are leaders in almost every area...and this isn't considered blooming....look at their recent history, the land, science, medical field, and add it up it is amazing, then take a good hard look at what is was before they came together as a nation and WOW....is is blooming...:yeah
.and I agree that one day they will look up and realize the Jesus IS the messiah that they were waiting for.

Hey Coco, :wave
In my humble opinion....YES!!!
There seem to be too many signs and birth pains now. Can you imagine how terrible it would be for these to continue on to the next generation getting stronger and coming closer together in freguency???? That would be a terrible time to live on this earth.

some things I read here and comments from my home healthcare worker(lutheran) got me thinking:thinking, so I did a google on how many christians believe in the rapture. I found that it is actually quite high:yeahSomething like 50% to 70%. I felt so much better! Sometimes that ole serpent tries to sow those rotton seeds of :thinkingI was VERY encouraged by what I read! Some about the 16 yr old girl who had a vision in the mid 1800's I think it was, That lead to the Darby guy, which in turn led to somone in 3-400 ad who belived in the rapture way back then, predating Darby dude by a long time! I was encouraged. Even saw some mention of MacArthur!!! It was so encouraging, but you know, doing a google depends so on the wording.
hope this isn't too off the subject:scratchbut I'v been thinking alot about the thread about how some christians disagree with a rapture:idunno(ok:thinkingthis might be pretty off this topic:scratch)
ok, edited agin, got the wrong thread, but just wanted to say I was pleased with my google, but I'm in the wrong thread I guess:doh
