It doesn't really matter what translation is being used...the message IS the same either way. If the two translations get to the same point, what's the problem in this case? Before you flame me fo rthis, I agree that the KJV is probably the best version out there...but I prefer the NKJV becuase of the thees & thous...Does that make my prefered translation any less genuine?
The NKJ and the NIV go against what God said in Revelation...not to take away and they do...we are to obey God they don't.

So? Did she tell you or anyone else to read the NIV? When she was holding it up she was referring to the bible period......no certain version. :ohno

You best compare the NIV to the KJ you'll see they did TAKE AWAY some of God's words...they water it down....God is not happy with them changing his words..why do you think God said that in Revelation?
You need to prove that the KJV is only true record of THE WORD OF GOD, not edited by men and the one and only standard by which all other texts can be deemed inferior to. Until you can show me that the KJV is God's gold standard for translations, then, and only then, may the NIV be said to be taking away from the Word. I have it on good authority that the apostles didn't write the Gospels in 17th century English and that men translated the Greek into that English.
Furthermore, the verses in Revelation regarding taking and adding to the words in this book of prophecy means adding or taking away from the book of Revelation and not necessarily any other books of the Bible.
Finally, ironically, words were added to the King James translation of the book of Revelation. Doubly ironic is the fact that the additions were made to the very same verses you quote!
But, back to the original subject matter...

Yes, Jesus did not die for us because we sinned, He died because we sinnnnn, as in we will continue to sin. Nobody said anything about a license to do whatever we please, don't bring that into it, that might be a sign that one is not really saved (only a possible sign). Once we are saved, God does not put our sin back on the books. That is ridiculous.
not yet......but we will be someday when we're with our Lord.
Amen to this!
She had me until the "sin back on the books thing"...... Im not buying, she makes it sound very works based, the only unpardonable sin is the rejection of the gospel that is the rejection of Christ as Lord and Savior....the sin of unbelief.
Acts 15:8
God, who knows the heart, showed that he accepted them by giving the Holy Spirit to them, just as he did to us.

This thread really isn't about Bible versions. Maybe you could start another thread to discuss this issue.
