I am currently being challenged (kindly and with humility) by my pastor and other members of my church to defend my belief that a) Genesis 12:1-3 is still valid (I'll ask that on a separate thread) and b)
the question I'm asking in this thread
where is the evidence that the United States is currently in disfavor of the nation of Israel.
From previous talks with my Pastor it is my understanding that he doesn't believe that the US is doing anything "wrong" or not in Israels best interest. He believes that we have been and still are a good friend. I need some good solid information on why our foreign policy towards Israel is not in their best interest.
Can you help? I can't give "opinions" without backup as to why those are reasonable opinons.
I hope I am am making some sense here in what I need, if not let me know and I'll try to clarify.
Thanks

I think as a nation we still support Israel, in spite of our leaders worst efforts.
All of Obama's foreign policy objectives have failed. And to top it off, circumstances may actually force him to support Israel's coming strike against Iran, something he could not have been trusted to do a mere 6 months ago.
I still think there is a faithful, praying remnant of believers in the US...just enough to forestall judgment.
I don't think we have crossed that line and cursed Israel, not yet.

What about our attempts to make Israel trade land for peace? Are we not asking them to accept undefendable borders?

I have found a few links for you to review over regarding this discussion.
I think right now, the way things are you are at an impasse.
But you can choose.
I will keep my eye out today for further things pertaining to your discussion.

That is the "O" Admin actions with Bollywood and the MSM thrown in. I feel there are still enough God loving, God fearing Christians in the USA that is praying and keeping his judgment at bay.
If you read the paper or watch TV you would think each man, woman and child wants a two country agreement, but look who they interview... Not me, not anyone I know, did they interview you?
One day that will change, it could be because he calls us home leaving only the non-belivers here or our leaders force something and we as Christian fail to pray and stand up for Israel.

Genesis 12:1-3 (New International Version)
Genesis 12
The Call of Abram
1 The LORD had said to Abram, "Leave your country, your people and your father's household and go to the land I will show you.
2 "I will make you into a great nation
and I will bless you;
I will make your name great,
and you will be a blessing.
3 I will bless those who bless you,
and whoever curses you I will curse;
and all peoples on earth
will be blessed through you."
Why would your pastor NOT think this is still valid today? Is he into replacement theology or something? :scratch

The USA still supports Israel financially, militarily and politically although this is under threat and seems to becoming more like negotiable shifting sands rather than taken as cast in stone. Pastors need to keep a finger on the pulse of these issues and not think it will continue as it was and all is well. The USA's support of Israel needs to seen in the light of more important issues, namely it's warming to Islam and the biggest one being that the USA resists God's plan for Israel and plays a leading role in supporting Islam's continual demands in a never ending land for (false) peace deal.
God will judge the nations for dividing His land and that puts the USA right at the front of the line for this terrible judgment. Having a president who continually refers to the Quran as the holy Quran while he mocks the Bible and does not call it holy indicates the danger for both nations.
What is the greatest legacy the USA could leave? Back when Condoleezza Rice made the statement that “"there could be no greater legacy for America than to help to bring into being a Palestinian state," the USA was setting its face against God's Word. No amount of financial or military support or expansion of Israeli settlements makes up for this.

Mideast envoy George Mitchell has threatened that the U.S. could freeze aid to Israel if the country fails to advance peace talks, YNetNews.com reported. http://www.thefoxnation.com/international/2010/01/11/obama-envoy-threatens-cut-aid-israel
But the land is God's property and Israel can only lease the land. Woe to anyone who tries to divide it. (http://www.israeltoday.co.il/default.aspx?tabid=135&view=item&idx=1325)
Jerusalem must not be divided

But once a two state solution is implemented the push will be on for Jerusalem to be divided and that is the great fear in Israel (http://www.haaretz.com/hasen/spages/1087107.html)

There is a lot of duplicity but that is the time we live in: deception in the church and leaders deceiving the peoples (Climategate being a classic example). Nevertheless, the only reason Israel is in the land is because of God's remembrance of His covenant with its fathers Deut.9: 5 Not for thy righteousness, or for the uprightness of thine heart, dost thou go to possess their land: but for the wickedness of these nations the LORD thy God doth drive them out from before thee, and that he may perform the word which the LORD sware unto thy fathers, Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.
At Armageddon, God remembers His Word of old like it was spoken that morning and deals with the nations for how they treated Israel, the land and Jerusalem. God is not confused about His Word to the church and His Word to Israel and He will fulfill both. Just make sure you are on the right side of His Word.
