When my kids were in "school" I would cook corn dogs and yank out the sick. Then wrap it in tin foil and place it in one of those lunch box/ soup containers. I would then place the stick in the lunch box. When child got to school they just shoved the stick back in the dog. :madgrin

I pack a lunch for DH everyday so he can eat in a healthy way and save $ and time (no running around to find food on a short lunch hour).
I use a 3.5 cup Tupperware container and fill it with mixed lettuce, then a meat, a cheese, another veggie, either raw or cooked (leftover asparagus is a hit) and nuts or croutons. Salad dressing goes in a 1/4 cup Tupperware on the side, so no soggy lettuce. Throw in a pudding cup, maybe cookies, definitely some Hershey kisses, a nice napkin (it looks cool and doesn't fall apart) and 2 bottles of water.
Some of his fav combos are:
Gyros meat, feta cheese, diced tomatos, olives, O&V dressing
Roast beef, cheddar, avocado, croutons or dry roasted almonds, blue cheese dressing.
Left over chicken parts, chopped, swiss cheese, pretzel stix (really!), chopped cooked asparagus or green beans, and O&V dressing made with a little soy sauce.
When you go to a restaurant that serves cool salads, just note the ingredients and copy it at home.
You can get very creative for very little $--the only thing I buy in individual pkgs is the pudding--I can do a huge, yummy salad for a couple of bucks, cheaper than the fast food joints for lunches.
He doesn't have to heat this meal, and it is portable and delicious. His weight and blood pressure dropped and stayed down over the 4 years I have been making his lunch. I make this while I am making breakfast so it is fresh that day...sometimes I try and toss in a sandwich or leftovers, but he almost always prefers the salad.

try looking up laptop lunches, they have a photo gallery, very good looking choices, and good nutrition.

Heres my version of the laptop lunch made with these containers I got at "The Container Store" here in San Antonio. I made sure they were not made in China too! HAHA

I have one daughter that is a very picky eater. She usually gets her lunch at school, but would like to take her lunch sometimes too. I need ideas for her. She is not really a lunchmeat eater.
