I just watched a five part YOUTUBE presentation titled "Christopher Hitchens and Stephen Fry versus The Catholics". The debate topic was "do you think the catholic religion is a force for good in the world; do you agree or disagree.
I am not going to post the videos directly to the board nor am I going to post direct links. The reason being that I don't think some of the discussion material is totally appropriate for this site.
But what I came away with is that the Catholics, even when debating a gay appologist and an openly gay man, came away as big time losers. They were on the defensive a little when the first Catholic speaker, an African nation archbishop, said his piece. When the first "anti" speaker got through it was all downhill for the Catholic position from there.
They did an entry poll and the results were 678 for - 1102 against - and 346 undecided. After the debates and a Q&A session from the audience they took another poll and the results were 268 for - 1876 against - and 34 undecided. The defenders of the pro catholic position lost 410 supporters and gained 774 against their position leaving just 34 of the original 346 undecided still holding that position.
In other words the Catholics "got their butts whooped big time" by a couple of people we would not let on this board.
Just think how much worse they would have ended up if they had to really defend their faith against someone with real biblical knowledge.
