The total quake/aftershock count for the Baja/So-Cal area is down to only 158 today from about 300 yesterday. But I did include two quakes from California that are not Baja related, or are they??? Could they be a harbinger of the quakes spreading upward to the north along the fault lines?

The count for rest of the non baja quakes has gone up though. And there are more in the 4.0 & over range among them as well. In other words the magnitude column is a lot more colorful today.

I also posted an alert for a 6.0 event in Papua New Guinea, but it was later downgraded to 5.9. Close, but no cigar, for our 6.0 & over event today.

The Baja/SoCal aftershocks and quakes are still at a fairly high count of 159. Most of them were under 5.0 with only one 5.3 and only two 5.0 for the rest of the list. So, except for the Baja/SoCal area, it is another reasonably calm day.

On Wednesday I help with the childrens ministry at my church so my post of the days activity will be a little later than usual.

But I want to ask - Is anyone still watching my daily posts, or should I just stop them until I am ready for the daily disaster thread???

I'm watching Yogi!

Yeah, checked usgs throughout the day. Baja is still shakin', rattlin' & rollin' will lots of small quakes, and Chile is still knocking out some 5's. You are right, it's still more quiet than a few days ago. I admit that I was a little worried when I first checked these threads this evening...there were no replies...talk about quiet! :lol2

I have noticed a slight trend of the quakes going further up the coast. But it isn't significant enough yet to say it is connected to the Baja event. Although the ones showing in large numbers on the maps of So-Cal just above the original site are definitely connected. casn't question that one. And they are the ones that have me concerned. I can't decide whether they look more like a ZIIIIIIIIPPER or a string of domiiiiiinos. Either way, if they don't settle down I am expecting something worse. In fact "something worse" has been a given lately somewhere in the world.

You know with the USA 7-day map approaching 3000, and yet the quakes remain relatively small, I wonder if it is almost as if now the earth is just in a steady vibration? You know, kinda like how if you drive your car with a bad tire...and so you do that for so long that you are use to it vibrating. In fact, you hardly notice until you reach a certain speed. Oh sure, at some point it will pop, but not for a while. I mean this could go on another few weeks, and then we'll be saying it's "normal" to see 3000 quakes a week. It would have to jump to 6000 or something, before we start scratching our heads again....:lol2
