Mahmoud Ahmadinejad's chief of staff, Esfandiar Rahim Mashaei, said Wednesday that if Israel attacked Iran it would be destroyed within a week.

Speaking at a political conference of ultra-conservatives in Iran's north, Mashaei said, "If the Zionist regime attacks Iran, the Zionists will have no longer than a week to live."

The semi-official Fars news agency quoted him as saying that the Islamic Republic would destroy Israel "in less than 10 days".

Mashaei, who was also formerly a vice president, added that new sanctions to be imposed on Iran for its nuclear program would only harm Western countries.

The statesman is considered a close affiliate of the Iranian president and has previously caused a stir by
saying that Iran was "a friend of the Israeli people". He later retracted this statement and issued a contrary one saying Israel should be destroyed.

On a visit to Saudi Arabia Mashaei claimed that the annihilation of Israel should be a global goal. He told Sudanese President Omar al-Bashir that "the corrupt and criminal Zionist regime is harming not only the Arab and Islamic world, but all of humanity."

Iran Threatens Israel Again

Such unbelievable hatred. But IMHO, if Iran's Mahmoud ImaNutJob really did have the means to destroy Israel, in a week or any other time frame, does anybody doubt that he would already be doing more than just flapping his lips together to be making noise.

I agree. I also believe they have a plan in place and it is not yet time to carry that out. I keep taking this to the Lord in prayer.

With a huge bottle of Excedrin and a dented baseball bat beside my desk, I'm trying to wrap my head around this from their perspective.....as much as possible.

Lebanon, ....
OK, they have 50,000-80,000 rockets in Lebanon and the trained folk to fire them
They now have more powerful and accurate rockets including the Scuds
They have the anti ship missiles in both Gaza and the north
They can reach every square foot of Israel
They have the CBR warheads but of which kind and specific toxicities I have no clue
They have what Syria stored in the Bakkah (sp) valley, what Syria smuggled in and what was unloaded on that Russian sub under Iranian flag
They have all the suicide and sabotage infiltrators that have been inserted through the hundreds of tunnels from Lebanon into Israel all over the country
They have the airfield destroying and denying munitions for their rockets

Syria has even more powerful and accurate rockets, artillery, CBR weapons

Iran has even more powerful and accurate rockets, artillery, CBR weapons than Syria and possible even a few workable nukes.

Maybe the ability to hit the US and Europe just as hard at the same time. That's going to take a lot more sophistication, manpower, munitions and planning......and longer range "stuff".

I have always thought they would attack America first and than go after ISRAEL, but with a friend in the White House they may not need to worry about America coming to help ISRAEL.
The numbers alone may overwhelm ISRAEL'S defences, but the arab-muslim armies always look better on paper than ISRAEL yet they loose every war.

That is no longer the case. They can launch from a cargo ship off any or all of our coasts and be on target within minutes with anything they can load on even one of the olders scuds. With that little warning of incoming missiles we would be defenseless against them.

IMHO, I think they are just waiting until they can get their hands on several nukes. And beg, borrow, buy, build, or steal; I believe that is all they will need to launch the worst terrorist attack in the history of the world. An attack that would make 9/11 look like a kindergarten excersize.

It is hard to imagine what the world would be like if even one nuke went off on American soil. And if that nuke took out Wall Street or Washington D C, well I shudder to think about it. But it could be even worse. What if they got hold of a dozen nukes? What if they got hold of a nuke that could be used as an effective EMP weapon?
