The police allowed Arabs to display the Turkish flag on the Temple Mount as a sign of solidarity with the country which sent the flotilla boat on which IDF soldiers were beaten.
Meanwhile, police cancelled the traditional Jewish walk around the gates of the Temple Mount for the month of Tamuz claiming "security concerns".

So how often does something like this happen? Placing a flag on the Temple Mount? Are there other flags that normally stand in that general area?
Can anyone put this into context?

Good post...we need this event in context. Otherwise it means the Arabs are 'sticking' it to Israel in their most holy place: Like placing a pentagram on America's largest church...except much worse!

Oh sure, let the Turkish flag be presented on the mount, but don't let the Jews have their walk. Totally makes sense, and is not at all wrong.

You know how when the villain in a movie knows he's beat so he grabs the hero's girl and flees, all the way taunting the hero because he's so weak and the hero will never catch him or get his girl back...
Yeah, that's what this is like.
Only problem is these few little passages in scripture that talk about Israel being established with Jesus as king over the whole world for 1000 years... Yeah, this villain is going down.

This is extremely disturbing that a Turkish flag is flying on the Temple Mount right now. We may be looking at an unprecedented event in all of the Temple Mount history.
From what I have researched, "NO FLAG AS AN EXPRESSION OF SOVEREIGNTY IS EVER ALLOWED TO FLY ON THE TEMPLE MOUNT AREA."

Could we be looking at a foreshadowing of the Abomination of Desolation?
When Jesus sat on the Mount Olivet with his disciples just before the Crucifixion, he was asked: What will be the sign at the end of the world?
Jesus answered: When ye therefore shall see the Abomination of Desolation as spoken of by the Prophet Daniel standing in the holy place, and then shall the tribulation come. (Mat: Ch. 24)
I have heard many "versions" of what the Abomination of Desolation refers to. If this is the first time any flag was allowed to fly on the Temple Mount, considering all the other events of the day, our time folks, is just about up.

:shocked:pray
Here's a quote from the article that Shelter posted: "Dayan made it clear to Carter that should any flag be flown, it would be flown over the mosque and not on any other place on the Temple Mount. But Begin angrily rejected this possibility as well. "Not on the Temple Mount," he fumed. "We are losing our conscience. Is it not enough that we have forbidden [Jews] to pray on the Temple Mount? We will not be able to agree to that also for too long a time. But the raising of a religious flag on the Temple Mount would be tantamount to recognition that it belongs to the Muslims."
