Miley Cyrus claims to be a Christian, and has previously publicly expressed her faith in Jesus Christ. The recent "lesbian kiss" is not a good reflection on that faith though. I noticed the lyrics don't have God in them, but they don't have profane material either.

I can see where they are trying to reach a certain audience, young kids. I might not like that the music contains nothing about God, but I'm not totally against providing things that might attract youth. Years ago I taught kids in Sunday School, and I always stopped at Dunkin Donuts and had donuts in my class room. I had a lot of kids from the neighborhood, whose parents didn't attend church, coming to my Sunday School class because of the donuts. But because other teachers didn't like that other kids that I wasn't teaching would come to my class and get donuts they banned donuts in the class room. Go figure.

My point is, some things might be harmless and actually work for good.

I noticed the lyrics do mention abouit moving a mountain, which is a Christian theme, that if we have faith we can move mountains (do great things).

Romans 12:2
2 And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.

Problem is a church is the last place that a message should be ambiguous and stealthy. I the church needs to marry the world to get the "message" out perhaps the message stinks. That church and the ones like them are so busy trying be relevant that they are a becoming irrelevant in an eternal sense.

Due reverence must, at all times, be given to Jesus and then let Him deal with hearts. Instead of making Him the afterthought He needs to be the Star of that show. That silliness leaves no room for The Holy Spirit to move in hearts since there is no meat upon which to chew.

I look back on the days of the Jesus movement and the message of the worship was spot on and unlike saddleback the message was every bit as impactful as the worship. People were being saved without the need to compromise in the music or the message. One thing for sure, God has not changed since then, so that only leaves one answer. :candle

Ain't about what's waiting on the other side
It's the climbumm....
no.

For me, What's on the "other side" is the reason the "climb" is bearable.

Someone on our praise and worship team sang that Miley Cyrus song during service. I kept wondering why it was being sung in church, as it is a song used to promote her last Hannah Montana movie. Even though it has generic, feel good-type lyrics, I thought it was odd. Glad I'm not the only one who thought the same, as well. After reading this, I don't feel so crazy now.

I hear what you're saying but the way to show someone Christ should never be in a worldly way. You start to put the world in the church, then it's hard to get it out. The church is a place of worship. To give God all glory, honor, and praise. If Miley Cyrus and the Jonas Brothers are there one minute or their music is being played then where is Christ in all of this. How are the children receiving the gospel? They are not going to through the disney stars, I"m sorry to say this. Kids are the most sensitive to peer pressure and I would hate for them to accept Christ based on if Miley or the JoBros have accepted Christ. What may be harmless may be bad and useless because it's not glorifying God, it's not in alignment with what he says in his word.
