It has come to my attention that over 30,000 religious leaders in the US have been given instructions by the current administration to preach Romans 13 to their devoted followers in the event of a crisis situation.

I would like to link to the complete verse so you can read along:
http://www.blueletterbible.org/Rom/Rom013.html

While this sounds very ominous when used in an emergency situation, I would just like people to make note of 13:8 which states:

"Owe no man any thing, but to love one another: for he that loveth another hath fulfilled the law."

I would also like to point out that Hitler used to instruct religious leaders to preach this verse. It was his favorite verse. Please be very wary of people trumpeting the virtues of this verse, unless they are balancing the argument. This is not a call for you to give up your freedom and submit. This is a complex verse that warrants a deeper look, and goes on the assumption that our leaders are serving a higher purpose of love.

Yes, Romans 13 does not call for unlimited submission to the Government, I believe.

That being said, by and large it would be best not to panic and to be pleasant and cooperitive (with some caveats, of course) if some terrorist event were to take place and National Guard troops were put on the streets, etc. Not a lot of people have warm and fuzzy feelings for the Federal Government, but in a situation like that, its better to respect authority than to give them a hard time and risk anarchy. Lots of people just assume that in a rebellion, they would land up in a better social situation once the dust settled than they currently occupy, never thinking that they could end up having assests seized, enslaved, dead, etc.
