What do you think is the difference between when you are regular posters on Christian boards and now when you are admins and mods? As in when you post, do you find that you have to be more careful to not offend as admins than when you are just regular posters?

I was just wondering, since I was admin in one Christian board and now owned my own. And I do find at times that I can't really say certain things that I can get away with as regular poster. And it feels like a lot more weight of responsibility on my shoulders to bend over backwards to a fault when posters lash out at me.

Just asking so maybe we can learn from each other here.

As well as posters who want to admin or run their own Christian boards can learn as well.

From my point of view, the absolute biggest difference is

a) one has to 'moderate' themselves better than anyone else, much the same way a pastor is held to a higher standard, and

b) maintaining unity across the board (pun intended) is much more important than it might be to a 'regular' poster. If we fail to do that, the board in general is made more uncomfortable to everyone. It's done in real life as well - you don't allow someone who's yelling or being a nuisance or being inconsiderate of others to remain during a church service just because what he's saying has some truth to it.

Agreed with you fully there. And I do notice you all keep yourselves under control even when disagreeing with posters here. That I do respect alot.

Your words are so with Paul who said if he had all truth, but has not love, he is nothing.

Leaders are indeed held to higher standard IMO because they also called to be servants to those they lead over- Christ-like style.

And that is where that job is difficult to do, when everyone is looking to you for that role you are in.

I'm glad that it is noticed - it means that we're doing what we're supposed to do. Thank you for your kind words - it truly is what we strive for. :)

Of course - there's always going to be one or two people who will test you UNTIL you slip, and then say "AHA! You got mad! And the BIBLE says........and you're in charge of this board.....Lord help us all...." :gaah :aha

But overall, considering the rewards we get, it is actually MUCH easier to self moderate than it is to just 'let it go' and reap the consequences of messing up. :)

Interesting thread!

Aside from enjoying the forums I am also learning quite a bit by watching how the admins and mods operate a Christian board and handle themselves.

I've owned and admined some rough and tumble secular forums in the past but a forum that pleases the Lord and serves the church in these important times is quite a different undertaking, and requires some spiritual maturity.

I'm praying about it, have had the right domain for a couple years and might give it a go, but I'm not sure if there is room for yet another prophecy forum.

One thing I am sure of is that all these different sites should not be in competition with one another but rather serve as a loose network.. each reaching and appealing to a slightly different group for a higher purpose.

It's the administrators and moderators who establish the particular feel, tone and direction for a forum. That's quite a responsibility and a blessing.

Find your niche by running your prophecy forum unique from other ones.

Find your niche by running your prophecy forum unique from other ones.Your right. While the subject matter implies obvious similarities, there would need to be something to make it unique... both in style and substance. I hope you don't mind an email or two if the time ever comes.
