And it came to pass by the way in the inn, that the LORD met him, and sought to kill him.
Clearly this refer to G_d wanting to slay Moses. But why?
Please advise
Thank you

From the AMP version...
Along the way at a [resting-] place, the Lord met [Moses] and sought to kill him [made him acutely and almost fatally ill]. [Now apparently he had [2]failed to circumcise one of his sons, his wife being opposed to it; but seeing his life in such danger] Zipporah took a flint knife and cut off the foreskin of her son and cast it to touch [Moses'] feet, and said, Surely a husband of blood you are to me! When He let [Moses] alone [to recover], Zipporah said, A husband of blood are you because of the circumcision.

I believe the context here is Moses' failure to circumcize his son as commanded by God to Abraham and all of his descendants as a covenant between God and the Jewish people. The penalty for failure to circumsize is to be cut off from the Jewish people. In this case, Moses' wife intercedes and performs the circumsion. I think this passage shows us how Moses is human like the rest of us - even those zealous for God sin from time to time - as did David with Bethsheba.
