WASHINGTON — An obscure provision slipped into a $120 billion Iraq spending bill in May threatens to leave some poor and disabled Medicaid recipients without prescription drugs in October.

What is it with congress critters and adding all this assorted BS to Iraq spending bills anyway?

*sigh* It will be nice to be with Jesus and have *honest* leadership for a change :nod

I have always thought that every bill should stand on its own, not be attached to some important unrelated bill, just to sneek it by a veto. I wish the founding fathers would have thought to put it in the constitution.

Great, I get both Medicaid and Medicare. Medicare is primary, my Medicare Part D plan doesn't cover my anti-nausea, well technically it's an anti-depressent but it's also used for nausea as in my case, Medicaid is paying for this pill. I take this medicine for nausea cause my Chemo pill's can make me sick at times. I hope this doesn't happen with Medicaid

Chemo? I'll pray for you.

The healthcare system in the US is very, very broken. Very broken ...

The only folks I ever hear saying it is just fine the way it is are those that either have a decent health care coverage through their employer or have the means to purchase their own plan. There are about 47 million Americans with no coverage and tens of millions more with inadequate coverage.

I have fairly decent health insurance only because I am married to a retired Marine, but by no means do I think Health care and drug coverage for anyone is good especially for those on Medicare or on a fixed income of any kind! As a matter of fact, when Medicare was changed last time and the government incorporated Part D, my drug coverage dropped, and I ended up paying more out of pocket through Tricare because of it. If I didn't have the coverage I have, my drug bill would run me close to $2000 a month, and I simply would not be able to afford it.

Congress likes to stick these little packages into these war bundles, thats what I call them, pass them, then gripe about all the money being spent on the war, never mentioning the money or entitlements that they either had cut or increased because they snuck them passed the American people when they sent it through as the war spending bill of some sort. Its happen several times!

I agree Health care needs to have something done to it...but I don't see anyone able to fix it this day and age. The only one I see that can off the best coverage is currently sitting at the right hand of the Father and He will soon be coming back, and when He does, we won't have to worry about Health Insurance or Drug coverage anymore!

I personally can't wait! :)

Just to clarify what I said, certainly not everyone with decent coverage says the healthcare system is just fine, it's just that when I run into folks that do say that, they are those with good coverage.

Congress likes to stick these little packages into these war bundles, thats what I call them, pass them, then gripe about all the money being spent on the war, never mentioning the money or entitlements that they either had cut or increased because they snuck them passed the American people when they sent it through as the war spending bill of some sort. That's an interesting point! I wonder what sort of percentage those "extras" are of the money allocated for the Iraq War? I'm certain someone, somewhere has that databased.
