The events we face, be they personal, or things like hurricanes, earthquakes, disasters, etc., are the result of a fallen planet and the choices we choose to make. God has given us the rules, and if we ignore them we suffer the consequences. Thus we are the ones who bear responsibility for misfortunes and mishaps. Its man against man at this point.
Now during the tribulation, God will bring His judgment upon the planet as a prelude to the restoration and to make preparations for the millenial reign.
If Katrina was a punishment for the sins of New Orleans, then why is San Francisco still standing? It wasn't God's judgment. It was a natural hurricane.

Yes, Mr. Mannn and all, I think it is making sense to me. I think this kinda sums it up:
"not enough to keep us from the natural consequences of our sin (sowing what we reap), but enough to keep us from destruction."
You know also, I suppose what is frightening is that truly man is doing such a good job at destroying himself with no assistance from the judgments of God yet.
It looks to me as if people are actually running with all their might to get to Hell. Not skipping or pacing, hesitating or lallygagging.... but plowing us over to get there. It almost makes me think I would feel better if God were judging right now, rather than to continue to watch how easy it is for one human being to simply snuff the life out of another.....

I don't think hurricanes are a Judgment of God. There have always been hurricanes. Its a natural part of living life in the Americas: dealing with hurricanes.
Obama and our descent into evil is not judgment either. We are simply sowing what we reap.
If we were under judgment, we would KNOW. Why? Because the Holy Spirit would have told us so, and there are too many discerning saints on this board to be oblivious to the leading of the Lord.
The reason we are NOT under judgment is also simple. America is the last western nation with a praying, believing remnant of saints, enough to stay the Righteous Hand of God. Remember when the question was asked if God would spare a city if but 10 righteous men were found in it? I think we are right at that breaking point.
There are still just enough of us to sway a nation...not enough to keep us from the natural consequences of our sin (sowing what we reap), but enough to keep us from destruction.
China has no freedoms and the underground church is flourishing there. We could lose our freedoms and still not be under the hand of judgment.
I end with a frightening thought. Destruction. When the rapture occurs, the salt of the earth will be taken away, and there will be no 10 righteous men to hold back God's hand.
Its my pet theory that at long last God will judge America. The first four judgments of the trib describe a world war that destroys a quarter of the earth's population. America could easily fall into that category. satan for sure might direct war against the US because here most of all, people might recognize the Hand of God and turn to Him.
Russia, China, even the EU might attack and the US could disappear in a nuclear holocaust. I include the EU as people marvel at the AC saying, who can make war with the beast?
(As a side note--its my theory--to include the Gog-Magog war here as well. This invasion could easily trigger a world wide war. And there are a number of nations and tyrants who would love to see the US out of the way)
Does this all make sense?
Excellent response MrMannn!!!! :thumb :thumb

I have often wondered if we are being judged, but now I am just more convinced that Satan is having a field day. Our country is pushing God out and opened the doors for evil, thus is the result we are seeing today. The judgment has only yet to begin and I am glad we won't be here to see it.

Wondering... we are told that God is not judging America and we are not to state that he is--
I assume this is specific to this board, correct?
I suspect we're towards the end of the warning period... but I wouldn't single out the USA in this case, but would say the world is about to see God's judgment, and it will culminate with the return of the Son in Glory.
Like TT stated, this is a worldwide situation.
We are in uncharted waters. The fate of the whole world is at stake, and God has turned towards all who refuse the Son.
The saying about Sodom and America has always made me chuckle a little bit. If you can go find ten+ righteous people, will not His judgment be held back? Surely there are more then ten righteous people living in San Francisco today. A different day, a different purpose. The Lord has spoke once for all from heaven, in His Son. The world is condemned already, and they don't know it. Lots of things can be said towards this, but one thing is for sure, no man knows what judgment is from God, and what is not. so we don't let people WAG about it, to say it simply.

my sentiments exactly :thumb
who was it that said,
"If God soesn't punish America soon,
He'll have to apologise to Sodom and Gamorah"
I believe it was Ruth Graham.
