The Michigan Family Independence Agency (MFIA) has refused to consider a Christian-based residential care facility for teens, resulting in a petition for review filed at the U.S. Supreme Court. MFIA is the government agency responsible for placing abused, neglected, and delinquent teenagers at residential care facilities.

The Teen Ranch of Michigan filed the petition this week, and they will be represented by attorneys affiliated with Alliance Defense Fund. The ranch disagrees with a 6th Circuit U.S. Court of Appeals decision that upholds the ability of the MFIA to avoid choosing the Christian facility even when teens wish to do so, even if they opt out of secular programs.

how sad. I mean it is the individual rights to feel comfortable to express his beliefs to other members. How can he do that in a secular programs. My own son even get upset and frustrated that he can't pray in school.

They can't that's the point. The secular program is probably run by a bunch of Humanist. They are affraid and can't give the Christain program an opportuntiy to prove itself. Humanist after all think man can fix anything with patience, tolerance, encouragement and most of all YOUR TAX MONEY!:lol2

I think one would go even more insane if he can't practice his religious belief freely. and it is scary enough that he might have to stay there for over 24 hours or more ...
