My pastor has been doing sermons over The Fundamentals of Fruit over the past 5 Sundays, and he has pointed out some really neat things.

The final sermon was today and it was over The Fruit of the Spirit.

Galatians 5;16-23
16This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh.
17For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other: so that ye cannot do the things that ye would.
18But if ye be led of the Spirit, ye are not under the law.
19Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness,
20Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies,
21Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.
22But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,
23Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.

One of the things I thought was so neat is found in verse 22. We see that it says that the fruit of the Spirit is love..........

Did you catch it????

Fruit is not plural, but yet it then list 9 things. So the fruit of the Spirit is LOVE, and without love we can't have joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, temperance.

What does everyone think? I just found this really deep, and so true. If you say you have joy, can you if you don't love? God's love, agape love, which we can read more about in 1 Cor. 13.

WOW, like the orange segment example, thanks.

I think it is so neat that after all this time of being a Christian, 39 years, the Lord is again showing me things as if I just surrendered my life to Him.

Tho, there was that time that I was away from Him, He never left me. THANK YOU LORD!!!!

I'm constantly amazed that, no matter how many times we go to God's Word, He has something new to show us each time. I'm starting a series study on the Fruit of the Spirit in my Sunday School class soon, and the orange segment example will be used plenty. Thanks so much. These were great messages.

If you go to itunes you can download the sermons on The Fundamentals of Fruit if you want to. They are under Cherokee Baptist Church AM Sermons I think or go to www.cherokeechurch.org, and I think you can get a link there to listen to the sermons. They are over Matthew 7, Romans 1-Fruits of witnessing, Heb. 13-Fruits of our Lips, Col. 1:9-11-Fruits of our works, Phil 4:17-Fruits of our Giving, and Gal. 5:22-23-Fruits of the Spirit.

Yes, it is really great how the Bible is still living and can give you something new everytime you read it. The Lord is great that way.
