I go to BUA, which is a Baptist university in San Antonio. We are planning on going Sunday to do a witnessing event right outside the Alamo. There are about 10 people that are going to participate in this event. Were going to open air witness in shifts for about 20 min. and have groups of 2 go out in the area and witness and have some just giving out tracks and some forming a crowd to draw more people. Anyways, the part that im not sure is legal is that we are going to have 4 of the people play guitar before each shift of the open air witnessing to attract more people. So is it legal for four people to be playing guitar outside and singing songs of worship?

I don't know. Maybe call the city and ask? I wouldn't mention witnessing / evangelism to them when you ask because if you have a biased person answering the question, they may lie to you, but you can ask about the guitar playing - oh and ask if there is somewhere on the internet that you can find that info about what is legal there and not legal, ya know?
I'm going to San Antonio in April to go witnessing for several days. You live out there?

You may need a permit.

This is a little off the subject and I don't want to interrupt your thread but thought I would just note this.
I was at a large community park near where we live recently. There are open air concerts there. Sometimes it's Christian music. I noticed a sign on one of the entrance posts just the other day that said "no pamphlet/circular distribution within the park". I had never seen it before and was surprised.

aclj.org they will answer it...some cities state things that are against the Constitution, they just hope you don't know. If the aclj says the supreme court has ruled in your favor long time ago...go with it..if your arrested they take the case for free...most cities won't touch you, cause they know it is a lawsuit in the making.....

One time when I was at the Alamo, there was a group of people preaching out in the open. I don't know if they had a permit or not, but they were definately preaching loud for everyone to hear. It was really cool. They didn't have any music though- I'm not sure if that makes a difference or not.

Yep! Im pretty sure its fine to open air witness; because of freedom of speech. Ive been witnessing at malls and neighborhoods for awhile but last week was my first time open air preaching and it was at the Alamo! The Holy Spirit just took over, it was incredible! I cant wait to do it again this Sunday! But oh yes what I was saying, when we first got to the Alamo there was a guy open air preaching as well and I watched for abit until he left! God is seriously using people its insane. Theres like a whole underground preacher society lol
Glory and praise be to Him!

Malls are private property and as such can set their own rules on what you can do there.
I know it sounds wierd but it is private property.
