In Excel, the columns are normally lettered A thru (whatever) and the rows are normally numbered. So, for example, in cell 1 the address/location would register as A1.

My question is.....sometimes when I open Excel, the columns are numbered along with the rows. So in the first cell, the address is registered as R1C1???

How do I change it back to showing letters for the columns instead of numbers?

Please help. :idunno

:scratch Never seen this before. Which version of Excel are you using?

I've never used this before but
Tools\options\general tab

There is a check box marked R1C1 reference style. Uncheck it.

R1C1 = Row 1 Column 1

I, too, have never used that's style either but that's interesting.

Thank you!!! That was it. I don't know why sometimes it's checkmarked?? :idunno

Anyway...thank you so much. That has been bugging me for quite a long time. :hat
