Sure! Here's what they look like:

The garment and the covenants made in conjunction with it are believed to be a spiritual "shield and protection" against the powers of evil and sometimes against physical harm. The garment also reminded us daily of our modesty. No part of the garment should show. Therefore, you made sure your shorts and T-s were long enough to cover your garment. Also, keep in mind- we wore our Bra ON TOP of the garment. Had to keep the garment on the skin at all times.

Here's what Jim wore in the Temple:

Heres the meanings of the symbols:

1. Mark of the Square (right breast): represents "exactness and honor" in keeping the commandments and covenants of God.

2. Mark of the Compass (left breast): symbolizes "an undeviating course leading to eternal life; a constant reminder that desires, appetites, and passions are to be kept within the bounds the Lord has set; and that all truth may be circumscribed into one great whole."

3. Navel Mark: represents "the need of constant nourishment to body and spirit."

4. Knee Mark: suggests "that every knee shall bow and every tongue shall confess that Jesus is the Christ".

(these are the words of former Church President David O. McKay)

Oh and by the way, when we went to the temple, I received my new name that Jim would use to call me through the veil. Remember- He got his own new name too.

My husband is THE ONLY ONE (And the temple worker) who can know my new name.

Well, as it turns out-- I got the name of the day along with my mom n law! Every women who went through the temple on that day got the same name!!! You mean to tell me that Jim was going to call Barbara through the veil too?! His MOM? To make spirit babies on our own planet when we become god's and goddess's? Who wants to make love to their MOM?

My name was Naomi. Jim's was Levi. We all got the same name on the same day.
So much for being unique in God's eyes. He couldnt even give me my own name? lol (They same Heavenly Father gave me that name)

:twitch You would think they would give different names to your wife and your Mom!

One thing I've wondered on is how mormon's can stay out of trouble, as far as keeping moral, not drinking alcohol or caffeine or taking drugs. I do see them as family oriented and try to raise up moral children I know it's a battle for me and sin and I have Jesus to help me with temptations. How do mormons stay so 'good'?

For me, I had to give it my all. With Jesus ALL things are possible, but with man, nothing. I guess thats why I was so unhappy even though I was a worthy temple going mormon.

I guess the most simple answer to that is Will Power. Not by the grace of God, but my their own strength. Although I do believe that God does bless their love for Him even though they are misguided. I also believe that we will see mormons in heaven of course.
I don't think just because someone is mormon means they are dammed to hell. Some of them might have had a face to face encounter with Jesus -- other I fear don't even know what the church believes. Sad really...

Kieffers, Jesus is wonderful, I am so glad that He saved you out of mormonism. My dad was a mormon and he was always trying to convert us, and I was always talking to him about how wrong the mormon way was, I would use scripture and asked him lots of questions, but as far as I know, he died a mormon. May God have mercy on his soul. Only God knows his final moments. I pray that a miracle happened.

That is pretty freaky about your special undergarments and the way they burned. I take it the way you put it, is that your undergarments were posessed? That would definitely be freaky.

The way I've always thought about it is this:

Those symbols hold demonic power. Weather in our underwear :aha
or where ever we use them- they have Power. I wouldn't mess with any of the occult crud.

I had a mormon employee, she was my most dependable, approachable, just utterly trustable person. I would wonder how she did it. My heart breaks for her because all her works won't get her to heaven but she doesn't know that.

Are there penalties for breaking the rules? Say a mormon just couldn't give up coffee...how does the church help with that?

I dont even read the horrorscopes. There is so much of this stuff out there these days, it is hard to stay away from it completely. My step-dad was a mason, they have lots of the same symbols as mormons. I do understand that Joseph Smith was mason, and he borrowed a lot of the masonic symbology for his "church."
