I am looking at the slick and easy way to use the same keyboard, video monitor and mouse for two computers.

Could a KVM Switch be the plan? (http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList.aspx?Submit=ENE&N=2000290143+1112808982&name=2+Computer+Connections)

Any light you can shine into the thick darkness would be appreciated.

That's what I'd do. Just make sure you know what kind of connectors your mouse and keyboard have (PS-2 - the round kind - or USB - the flat kind) and purchase a KVM switch that matches.

That might be part of the problems that I will get into.

One computer is a recent model P4 and the other is a 7 year old AMD Duron 850 [the price was right. . . a freebie].

Maybe I can find an adapter kit.

Send me a PM with more details.

In that case, what I'd probably do is buy a USB KVM switch (if BD has one, buy his) and then just get 2 PS2 to USB adapters.

I have a Belkin (F1DZ104T) which is pretty old now. It may be overkill for your application because it has output for 4 computers and can hook up other KVMs of the same model to increase capacity.

Either way, each channel has PS/2 connectors for the kbd and mouse, as well as USB. Even still, I use only ps2 so I just use the USB to ps2 adapter that came with my mouse.
