If war breaks out between Israel, Syria, and Hezbollah, Syrian President Bashar Assad's regime will "play powerful cards" in south Lebanon and will not hesitate to respond, senior security officials in Syria said, according to the Kuwaiti newspaper Al Rai.

According to the officials, in case of war with Israel, Syria and Hezbollah will compete with each other over who will fire the first Scud or Fateh missile at Tel Aviv.

The Syrian officials also warned that the deteriorating security situation in Syria and damage to the country's stability may also have an effect on the situation in Iraq, Jordan, and Lebanon. [Interesting but why and how? :scratch ]

They added that it will be very difficult to topple the Assad regime, which has moved from a defensive position to an offensive one.

The comments by the Syrian officials comes after a European push for the UN Security Council to condemn Syria's violent crackdown on anti-government protesters was blocked on Wednesday by resistance from Russia, China and Lebanon, envoys said.

Meanwhile, Syrian forces tightened their grip over several hot spots of unrest on Wednesday, as troops poured overnight into a Damascus suburb, tanks patrolled the volatile city of Deraa and security men surrounded Banias on the coast.

Bloody Syrian crackdown embarrasses Turkish allies

Istanbul, Turkey (CNN) -- Turkish officials engaged in last-minute shuttle diplomacy with their restive neighbor Syria and repeated calls for restraint ahead of what is expected to be another violent day of protests across the Arab nation on Friday.

Turkey's National Security Council met on Thursday in Ankara to specifically address the increasingly bloody crisis, which some analysts fear could spill over to the Turkish side of the border.

The final, rapid radicalization of Israel's neighbors (including Syria) by the Muslim Brotherhood will quickly usher in Ps. 83. Syria can't afford to lose what little control is has in the area. Syria talks the talk a lot, but the MB is an action oriented organization and Israel will be the object of that action.

Possibly, in the battle for bragging rights, Hezbollah could jump the gun to claim "First" in the coming attack on Israel. Remember the Muslim commandment... "He who strikes his enemy first is the bestest and coolest in the eyes of Allah."

How sick and twisted. They can plot all they want but in the end, Israel will see rapid victory over her enemies, and after that GOD will see rapid victory over Gog/Magog.

You know what they say, "HASTE MAKES WASTE" (and posting typos but I think that only goes without saying).

My theory is they are going to overshoot and Gaza will suffer the ultimate loss.
