I want to quit. Seriously I do. I have found that with my metabolism only one of 2 things works and neither is a lifestyle change that I am willing to make right now

1) eat 1200 calories a day (no more) and speed walk for 30 min a day. I can drop 2 lbs (if that much) a week that way.

2) total atkins with NO low carb products. So I have to give up real and fake sweets! As much as I like my meat and such I also like my sugar.

I hate the way I look. I could stand to lose about 90 lbs and I know that my husband hates the way I look too. He loves me. Don't get me wrong, but I am just not attractive....

So here I am all open and exposed to you. I hate the way I look but I am not will to take the drastic route. I want to eat like a normal person. 1200 cals is just not enough. I can do it for a few days or even weeks and then I am sick of not being able to eat a cup of ice cream.

Please pray for me

My wife it seems is always on a diet. I am trying to get her to try something I am doing, let me know what you think.

Last October 9th I weighed in at 232# I am however about 6'2" tall but the extra pounds were showing off extremely well on my face, mid riff, upper arms and I suppose a little overall flabby.

On October 9th I had my wife measure me out neck, chest, thighs, waist, and calves. My weight as I said was 232#'s. I started my new ways.

My goal was to loose 42#'s and be at 190#'s in 42 weeks. 1# per week average.

I know it seems like a long time but the way I figured it, everyone tries loosing weight to fast and to do so you need to make DRASTIC eating and somtimes exercise changes that just WILL NOT stick after loosing the weight, and cuboom 4 months later your back to where it all began.

My little'ol single pound a week, my measly one pound DOES NOT require a DRASTIC life style change. DOES NOT require a change in exercise, or in my case to begin. After 6 months October 9th to April 10th, 6 months to the day just about or 26 weeks MY WEIGHT 204 a loss of 28#s I am ahead of schedule and I DO NOT have to worry about getting to the gym or eating something I am not supposed to.

Do you know one regular soda a day equals one pound a week.:woah

Here is what I am doing,

1. instead of 2-3 mochas a week
change, 1-2 vanilla non fat lattes a week

2. instead of bringing the snack bag to the couch with me to nibble
change, take a handful, BIG HANDFULL to the couch with me.
ps, I cheat on this one every 10-14 days and bring the bag.

3. Mr. coffee is me, 1 pots a day at work minimum usually more w/cream and sugar.
change, NONE i like my coffee:yeah
AT HOME 1/2 pot to 1 pot a day additional YEP w/ vanilla or hazelnut creamer.
change, switched to non-fat vanilla or hazelnut creamer.

I still snack as I did, still nibble on candies as I did, and still enjoy my time away from the gym as I did.
ps, the first two of these or done consciously:preach

THAT IS IT as far as I recall. funny thing is I actually have to think about what I am doing to loose weight because it does not require much and therefore will not require much for me to maintain it which is'nt the lifelong overall goal:yeah

When I told my wife what I was going to try in October it did not sound very good to her. We are a society of instant gratification and quick results.

Now go do it, if you are overweight try it and keep me posted. let me say there were weeks I would not loose anything then in the 3rd week, sure enough, BAM 3 pounds gone but for the most part it was a slow meticulous 1 pound a week.

DO NOT let a subtle little change and SLOW PERMANENT RESULT stop you, really you could be 65 pounds lighter by next summer. and NEVER have to go back there again your entire life.

quit smokeing two months ago too

God bless you all

john

Sounds good. BUT I am going to add my answers to your plan just so you get an idea of where I am at...
1. instead of 2-3 mochas a week
change, 1-2 vanilla non fat lattes a week
I have maybe 1 cup of coffee a week and I use skim milk and splenda

2. instead of bringing the snack bag to the couch with me to nibble
change, take a handful, BIG HANDFULL to the couch with me.
ps, I cheat on this one every 10-14 days and bring the bag.

I don't buy bags of snacks. Plus I can get up and get another handfull...LOL

3. Mr. coffee is me, 1 pots a day at work minimum usually more w/cream and sugar.
change, NONE i like my coffee:yeah
AT HOME 1/2 pot to 1 pot a day additional YEP w/ vanilla or hazelnut creamer.
change, switched to non-fat vanilla or hazelnut creamer.

See #1

Yes. My son is getting married in St. Kitts in November. Got to lose a minimum of 10 pounds, but more is better.

My son got married in Australia in Feb and that motivated me to lose 20. I need to lose another 20 but have just maintained since I got home. I need to get re-motivated again. I feel tons better since the 20 is gone and know I'll feel even better when the next is gone, too.

Blessings to all who are working to lose weight. Praying that we are filled with God's strength and self-control.

AGH! I had typed a post and then it went away, as I hit a wrong button ... delete ... :doh

Anyway, My DD#2 is getting married on May 20th; beautiful MOB dress; :yeah

Concern re diabetes: Maternal GM, mother, and sister all had/have diabetes as well as high blood pressure ... and baby #5 was 10lbs, 10ozs. :woah

I have lost 12 lbs since the beginning of March; but am stalled ... as I began to backslide before Easter and am trying to stay on target ... A new way of eating - WOE - is challenging what with stress, TOM, health issues, everything ... especially folks wanting me to eat socially ...

Just a question but what kind of exercise do you get? If you're a mom, I realize it's difficult to be able to get any kind of exercise with children. There's so much to do with children that even finding time for yourself is difficult. So what's your exercise regime?

Spark People, http://www.sparkpeople.com, is a wonderful, FREE get healthy site. I've been active with them (wonderful support boards) for three months now and have lost 20 lbs.

If you happen to sign up, tell 'em I sent ya, *AmethystDreams. :D

The kids and I walk around the neighborhood almost every day.. I would say 4 times a week. It is about a 20 minute walk.. and they are on bikes and I am trying to keep up...LOL

That's actually very good exercise for you, although they do recommend a longer walk. If you're trying to keep up then you're walking fast and that's the best. Have you considered taking some small hand weights and maybe using some ankle weights when you walk? Adding weights builds muscle and more muscle uses more calories. Even if you just take 15 minutes a day to do some basic weight exercises, that helps. You can even use large cans as weights. Just your basic bicep, tricep, shoulder and squats can be really helpful.

I can see you have your hands full with your kids and life in general but that will help. It will take time to see the results but you will feel better in time.
