I'm on 1000 calories or less a day and sometimes I am so full that I don't even get that many. I eat anything I want as long as I don't go over 1000 calories. Today is my 22nd day on the diet. Weight loss is about 2 1/2 lbs. a week and it will always stay off because eating habits are changing! I need to lose 60 lbs. (I quit smoking a couple of years ago!) But I did have to ask the doctor for pills to kill my appetite and they are working fine. But I imagine that within a week or two I won't even need those anymore because my habits are changing so fast!

Weight Loss - what a drag! Unfortunately I inherited my Mom's figure. All butt and gut. If I could lose about 30 pounds from my neck to my lower abdomen in the front, I'd be pretty much normal. It all seems to go right to the front of me, and my arms, and legs aren't heavy.

My weakness is ice cream. And I read the suggestion of not taking the bag of chips to the sofa. Great advice. On Pat Robertson's show, they have a nutritional/exercise expert on each Wednesday. That's the very thing he was talking about last week. He said a serving of chips is about what you can hold in both hands Don't take the bag, but put the 2 handsful in a bowl and leave the bag behind.

I feel really bad about the way I look. When I was a teenager, I didn't think I'd ever reach 100 pounds, and through my 20's and 30's I had to eat just to keep from losing weight. I stopped smoking in 1989 and it was like someone stuck a basketball needle in me and just "blew me up." I was mowing the lawn this afternoon and it was all I could do to make it for about 30 minutes pushing the mower. I feel bad, not only emotionally, but physically as well.

I've considered Weight Watchers, but can't make the meetings regularly because of my crazy schedule. We've stopped drinking any soda in our house - I don't even keep any here anymore. I thought it would make a difference, but I must be making up the difference somewhere else.

Did any of you ever hear of the Weigh-Down program? I led a seminar at my former church (I was much thinner then myself) and several of the women experienced good weight loss and also were able to make positive changes in their lifestyle where eating was concerned. Gwen Shamblin's approach to eating is this: eat only when you are truly hungry (stomach growling) and stop eating when you are slightly full. But she pretty much eats anything, just in moderation.

Anyway, let's encourage one another, and accountability is good, too.

Blessings to all,
graceforme

Her eating program is good, but she kinda whacked out. She denies the trinity and pretty much says that if you believe in it then you are an idol worshipper:rolleyes

There is another program like it but I cannot remember the name

The other program is First Place, I think. I second what you said about Gwen Shamblin. She got cultish.

I've lost 20lbs which averages about 2-3lbs a week since I started my "diet". I like to call it my "lifestyle change" because I hate the word diet. :P The funny thing is I'm still eating the foods I love...which includes JUNK FOOOOD! The "secret" is I just don't eat as much as I used to. I calculated my calorie limit to lose 2-3lbs a week, and I've been counting my calories since. It also helped me to buy my snack foods in boxes of 6-100 calorie packets, and I got some great recipes from http://www.3fatchicks.com/. I've also been watching these videos from a personal trainer: http://www.bodyperformancetv.com/steve_tv/ The videos are free to watch and there's no annoying ads or anything. This guy's name is Steve Turano, and he helps with the fact vs. fiction with weight loss. And on top of that, there's 2 videos that show exercises that can be done at home with simple hand weights. These videos seriously got me motivated. He has updates pretty often. Good luck everyone!

I am trying to lose weight also. I have been able to take a few off and then went off on a trip last month and gained three to four pounds back on.
Ever notice how unfair it is that it is so easy to put weight on but harder than anything to take it off??

Lost another pound today!

I think I found the pound you lost (plus a few more).

I am also working on losing weight. 11 1/2 pounds so far!

I eat between 1600 and 1900 calories a day. Which sounds like a lot, but I'm breastfeeding, and if I drop too low then my baby gets hungry.

Hubby and I have been dieting for almost 2 years. I have lost 57 pounds using sparks people and setting the captives free. I lost the first 40 in the first year but it has taken me almost a year to lose 17 pounds. It is fustrating, because my body wants to stay where it is.
We are both handicapped so we have to lose slowly. We are walking 4 times a week but with a cane it is slow going. We are doing better. We are now walking 9/10 of a mile in 30 minutes.
I usually stumbled into the apatment and take a pain pill, but it is worth it.

The first thing I had to do was realize that I was powerless over food without God's help. I began to pray each day for God to help me make wise decisons on food. For the first couple of months, I fixed us a cup of instant broth before cooking lunch and supper. This way I was not so hungry when I cooked that I would stuff my face while cooking. I still have to lean on Jesus for help because I always used food as comfort.
If there is anything I can do to help or encourage you, please let me know.
I do care.

I've heard good things about setting captives free. Also Weight Watchers has a paid online program for people who don't like or can't attend meetings.
