WASHINGTON - The Obama administration has intensified the American covert war in Yemen, exploiting a growing power vacuum in the country to strike at militant suspects with armed drones and fighter jets, according to American officials.
The acceleration of the American campaign in recent weeks comes amid a violent conflict in Yemen that has left the government in Sana, a United States ally, struggling to cling to power. Yemeni troops that had been battling militants linked to Al Qaeda in the south have been pulled back to the capital, and American officials see the strikes as one of the few options to keep the militants from consolidating power.
On Friday, American jets killed Abu Ali al-Harithi, a midlevel Qaeda operative, and several other militant suspects in a strike in southern Yemen. According to witnesses, four civilians were also killed in the airstrike. Weeks earlier, drone aircraft fired missiles aimed at Anwar al-Awlaki, the radical American-born cleric who the United States government has tried to kill for more than a year. Mr. Awlaki survived.

So which side is the 0bama administration supporting - the radical Islamists or our supposed "allies"? After the unconscionable way 0bama has treated our only real friends in the ME, Israel and PM Netanyahu, and the fact that he makes no secret how pro-muslim he is, I'm asking a legitimate question as to which side he's supporting in this situation. :tsk The really sad thing is that it truly wouldn't shock or surprise me if this administration was actually supporting and helping the radicals as they themselves are radicals.

0bama is supporting the allies (:scratch) that don't really like us on odd numbered days, and the anti government terrorists on even numbered days. /sarcasm Today we're bombing anti government positions. This must be a real quandary for him.

If the anti government forces would identify themselves as the Muslim Brotherhood for democratic change, of course he would immediately support only them. That day is coming.

The article seems to be referring to American strikes on militant groups tied to Al Queda. Regardless of the political rubbish that goes on, this is the theater of war that will spread and broaden as domestic economic conditions deteriorate and vested interests are sought.
