Their works showed their belief existed in their hearts.
They did not do works to obtain favor and be accounted as righteous or worthy.
It was always faith alone in the Old and New Testament, examples are recorded to show primary Faith existed, works were a reaction of that Faith otherwise the work would have never been committed.

Philippians3:5 Circumcised the eighth day, of the stock of Israel, of the tribe of Benjamin, an Hebrew of the Hebrews; as touching the law, a Pharisee;
6 Concerning zeal, persecuting the church; touching the righteousness which is in the law, blameless.
7 But what things were gain to me, those I counted loss for Christ.There was a righteousness of the law that Paul and all saved O.T. saints had until the cross happened. Then when the cross happened he threw it away for the cross.

Romans10:3 For they being ignorant of God's righteousness, and going about to establish their own righteousness, have not submitted themselves unto the righteousness of God.
4 For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to every one that believeth.
5 For Moses describeth the righteousness which is of the law, That the man which doeth those things shall live by them.

Out of context.
Any other Gospel than our Gospel of grace is a works based gospel and is not tolerated on this board.
[04] Defend God's infallible Word not the ways of the world, liberalism, false translations, false theologies, or false cults. We believe in only one true gospel of saving grace through faith in Jesus Christ alone in His shed blood for our atonement, Old Testament looked forward to God's provision of the sacrifice, New Testament looks back to God's provision of the sacrifice. Do not promote, two gospels, hyper Dispensationalism, or hyper Calvinism Do not play 'devil's advocate' for the sake of argument.
