if they were saved by the gospel before they died in genesis then why did they need to point to Christ? they had Him all along.

I think there are several covenants and/or promises in the old testament.
The main covenant was made with abraham who became Israel. The old testament points to the cross. The cross fulfills the law. Then salvation is offered to us through faith and belief in Jesus Christ and what He accomplished on the cross. What is it about Abraham that is counted for his salvation? Isn't it his faith?
When he was told by God to sacrifice his son, wasn't that a picture of Christ and how God would provide a (perfect) sacrifice?
I remember reading once that when God told Abraham to kill his son, at the moment that God told him to do that act, in Abrahams mind, he was already dead eventhough he did not carry the act out yet. Abraham, knew that God had made a covenant with him in regards to his son, so he didn't care if God told him to kill him, God would have to resurrect him, and it was really God's problem how it was reconciled. Abraham just did God's Will.
This is what all the OT saints did in their heart, God's Will. They rested in ABrahams Bosom till Christ went to free them, and then I am sure it was clear to them that it is Christ who did the Fathers Will perfectly.
Isn't that the Law? God's Will for us to follow. He tells us what to do to be rightous and perfect in His eyes. Of course it it Christ who is the fulfillment of the Law, as He is the One who did the Will of the Father perfectly.
All through His ministry He quoted the OT and how He was spoken of in the OT. When He was resurected, He opened up the OT scriptures to the two men He walked with for a couple hours.
I believe, like Paul, that one should be ready to be all things to all people, Jew or gentile, but it is Christ that is the Way.
Can I ask a question that I haven't quite become clear on?
Where are the Church in the Millenium Kingdom? Are we on earth, and if so, what is our physical makeup?
Where is Israel during the same period? I mean the Israel that calls on the Lord for salvation at the end of the Trib, the same Israel that sees Jesus return and recognizes that He is their salvation?
I realize that there are those Jews that accept Christ before the Trib, but God has a remnant that He preserves to the end.
The church are Kings and Priests? Physically, here on earth? Spiritually in heaven? Israel, who call on the Lord at the end of the Trib, what of them during the Millenium Kingdom, how is it all laid out?
I know that after 1k years, there is a perfecting, and we are all one in the Lord.
In the end, there will be only those that have subjected their own will for that of the Fathers, by way of Christ, who did this perfectly, even unto death.
Just wondering.

The fulfillment of the law that Christ did, was dying in our place. The law required blood for our transgressions, and Jesus gave His for us.
Galatians 3:8
And the scripture, foreseeing that God would justify the heathen through faith, preached before the gospel unto Abraham, saying, In thee shall all nations be blessed.
Galatians 3:9
So then they which be of faith are blessed with faithful Abraham.
Galatians 3:14
That the blessing of Abraham might come on the Gentiles through Jesus Christ; that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith.
Hebrews 11:8
By faith Abraham, when he was called to go out into a place which he should after receive for an inheritance, obeyed; and he went out, not knowing whither he went.
Hebrews 11:17
By faith Abraham, when he was tried, offered up Isaac: and he that had received the promises offered up his only begotten son,
as far as the tribulation questions, I think, to my understanding at this point, cuz I am not real clear on everything after the rapture either, I think, that after we are raptured, we are in our glorified bodies and we will be with the Lord forever. That said, after the tribulation, the New Jerusalem comes down, and I think that we who were raptured live there until after the millenium. While we are up there, those who made it through the tribulation without receiving the mark are re population the earth, I dont think they are in glorified bodies yet. then at the end of that thousand years, the devil will be loosed again and a final war is fought and then the dragon is throwed in the lake of fire for ever and ever. Dont quote me on that, like I said, this is just so far that I understand. Might be a small understanding?
Hope I helped.
BigDaddy, I agree with you about Abraham. I posted some scripture to back you up.

Where are the Church in the Millenium Kingdom? Are we on earth, and if so, what is our physical makeup?
We see what Christ's 'makeup' is after the resurrection, and Paul states "we will be like Him" We will have glorified bodies, they are not physical in the same sense that we now understand, though if it be necessary, it appears these bodies can take physical form. Our mortal bodies will 'put on' immortality.
There is a role of judgment which the church is given, of angels, of unbelievers, and who knows precisely what else. In affect, we will be on the order of angels, ministers of the Lords decrees. I suppose it reflects back to the judgment seat of Christ, and what role a person will have.
Where is Israel during the same period? I mean the Israel that calls on the Lord for salvation at the end of the Trib, the same Israel that sees Jesus return and recognizes that He is their salvation?
When Christ returns, they will be living on earth until their natural death, in the MK.
