Whatever. This state is so messed up. I'm out of work, no prospects, and fed up.

Not seriously. I don't want to move my kids far from their dad and I don't want to move far from my family. The thought of starting over away from family and alone seems too intimidating and scary. Perhaps I'll have to make that decision, but it's not in the works right now.

Well President Bush just said today that the economy is doing great. In fact the latest data says that there are more rich people than ever before. Most people I know have been able to get a good minimum wage paying no insurance job at McDonalds and Walmart and they are doing just great:dance2. So I don't see what the problem is. It must just be a liberal smear campaign against our President.

I read a book this past week, the world is flat, and in it talks about how the world has changed because of the streamlining of goods and services. It was a great book and it opened my eyes to how our way of life will change in the coming years. I knew how our factors were being shipped overseas to lower wage highly productive countries, but I never knew the extent the service sector jobs were being farmed out. It sure has changed the way I feel about how economies grow and flourish in today’s world. As we all know China has become the world’s factory, but it seems India has become the world’s CSR community thanks to the huge communication pipes, Fiber Optics, that are in place. It becomes cheap enough in one community for someone to drive through a McDonald’s drive through and place an order and this order is taken in India and sent back to the guy giving your sandwich at the next window thanks to fiber optics. Please know this is just in a test market during the time the book was being printed, and I am not sure if it was a success. CPA’s now use a server in California to host your tax return info on for someone in India to log in and do your return only for the CPSA to print it out the very next day to hand to their client.. How many help desks have you called and your call was routed to India. So now not only do we need to worry about our brick and mortar manufacturing jobs being shipped out of the good ole USA but the service sector jobs are defiantly not safe. Also to boot we are being flooded with cheap Mexician labor from south of the border to take the very low wage earners. It all does keep inflation down, but how far do we go to keep inflation down is a huge question for our country. It will be interesting to see how this all works out over the coming years.

This all started with NAFTA. Smart move to ship our jobs away so some CEO could make many more millions. We are going to be a 3rd or maybe 4th rated nation soon. Does anyone see a way to get our countrys jobs back? I sure don't.

Anyone who owns a home in Michigan can't move because there are no buyers.
Everyone is trying to get out - so there is no one buying!

I'm in NW Ohio about a 10 minute drive from Michigan. I have several friends, mostly Christian that work at GM Power Train, Jeep, Ford Stamping in Maumee and Chrysler. Many are out of work and have been for some time. Last night at Jeep, they told 3rd shift bye-bye because they are stopping the production of the Dodge Nitro due to lack of sales. Last year Ford decided to close the stamping plant in Maumee in 2009. They changed their mind though. It is being closed down now. I have been out of permanent work for 5 years and 2 months. My career was in electronics. I don't want food stamps and that just because the rules to receive them are stupid ... I think they are great though for those that need them. I do need them, especially right now .... I don't know ... I more than qualify, but they want my wife and I to go to classes all day every day for a month to get them. They want to teach us how to buy healthy food, be frugle, how to fill out an application, blah, blah, blah ..... I'm a professional and have all that well under control but they are not able to discern. I have to work whatever work I can day by day ...... NOT sit in ridiculous classes all day for a month.
I will honestly keep all who are out of work, in prayer. It is serious business. If it wasn't for Jesus ..... I can see why so many that don't know Him crack under some of the pressures today.

First of all let me tell you Issachar how sorry I am for your situation. I will certainly be praying for you and I do hope that you find another career to fill the void lost by the export of the many jobs to the Far East and Mexico. You know I don’t understand why Americans are not more outraged about what is going on in this country. If your competitor stole a piece of business from you in your local town there would be great conversations around the diner table. And if you lost your job because of someone with in your organization, there would be a lot of dialog between you and your boss as to why. But when we loose whole industries to competing countries, our politicians seem to turn a blind eye and point to the great job growth we are having. Those stats can and often do get skewed. It really makes me worried for our country and for the people here that are feeling the effects of poor policy dictated by our elected officials both republicans and democrats.
